The UP AI Scripting Ladder

Welcome to the third continuous installment of the AoKH AI Scripting Ladder, now supporting Userpatch for the first time. Here you can enter your AI to compete against AIs with a wide range of abilities and a huge range of strategies. Whether it's to improve your AI's skill or whether you want to enjoy the exciting fun and community it provides, the Userpatch AI scripting ladder will suit your needs.

The Userpatch (UP) is a community patch that provides enormous benefits to the game, allowing AIs to become exponentially more intelligent, among others. Click here to download the patch and learn about everything the Userpatch can do! You'll find many scripters here who are more than willing to help you learn how to script and how to use the new UP commands.

Also, if you enjoy scripting, you should join the AI scripters community at http://forums.aiscripters.com/. You can also find a guide to AI scripting here and a guide to the new UP commands here.

How Do I Join?

If you want to enter the ladder, just drop a post in the thread with a link to your AI, tell us what civ you want it to play, and your AI will be added to the ladder.

When you enter your AI, it will play four unrated games against different opponents and given a rating based on its performance. Once your AI has been given a rating, your AI is ready to enter round play and climb up the ladder.

New: Each forummer can only have one AI in the ladder at any time.

How Does the Ladder Work?

Like multiplayer ladders, the AI ladder determines an AI script's overall skill ability over the course of several games and compares the skill ratings of other AIs to each other.

The AI Ladder uses the ELO system, the same system used to rank chess players or players on online gaming sites such as Voobly. The ladder is run in rounds with each AI grouped in a league of (ideally) five AIs according to ability. During each round, each AI will play each other AI in its league twice. The winning AI's score in each match will be increased according to its opponent's score, either a large amount if the AI defeated a higher ranked opponent or a smaller amount if the AI defeated a lower ranked opponent. The losing AI's score is decreased in the same way. Once the round is over, a new one begins, creating continuous cycles of competitive fun.

To make things more interesting, we randomize between Arabia, Ghost Lake, Gold Rush, Mongolia, Oasis, and Yucatan. To facilitate the randomization, you can download the official AI Ladder random map randomizer to test your AI and to test matches: link

AI Classes:

New: All AIs are divided into leagues according to ability, with ideally 5 AIs in each league. The leagues are reorganized at the end of each round to re-sort the AIs into the leagues by ability.

If an AI is the lowest-ranked AI, has at least 75 points lower than every other AI, and has lost at least three games in a row, the AI will likely be dropped unless the author requests the AI to remain in the ladder.

Game Requests:

New: Requested games no longer count for score, but they can be requested nevertheless.

Previous AI Ladders:

In addition, for those who like a bit of nostalgia, you can find the previous installments of the AI scripting ladder here:

Schedule:

Anyone can judge any of the games in the AI ladder, and judges do not have to sign up for a game before playing it. However, you may make a post in the thread if you wish to reserve a game to judge. Those who are willing to judge and record these games, please post for which games you would like to play. Authors should not judge games that contain their own AI. All games should be played on Hard difficulty, tiny map, 200 pop, Dark Age, low resources, and Conquest victory. The current version of the Userpatch (version 1.4) and the official randomizer map script should be used. Games will be considered a draw if they last more than two hours, unless an AI has less than 2 villagers at the two hour mark. Thus, you can end the game after two hours if you wish.

It is recommended that the judges cheat "natural wonders" so that there is no possibility of interference from the judge. However, if you feel that this would hamper your ability to review the game you may opt not to do this, as long as you provide the recorded game.

If you decide to use Cheat Engine's speedhack feature, please limit your games to x5 speed on Slow speed or x3 speed on Fast speed, unless one AI has clearly won the game and you want to speed up the "cleaning up" process. Any faster speedhack is prone to mess up AI functionality on slower computers.

Once the game is finished, please write a short review of the game. Provide helpful comments on what were each AI's weak points so that the authors of the scripts can know how to update them. Also post the recorded game link along with the review. To make it easier for us to gather information from the reviews, please post the reviews of the games in this format (just copy it into your post and edit it):

I've released a sort of new version of BruteForce (2.00) its early so I expect a few bugs. if you haven't already, please download

I'd also like to request a match between BruteForce and Boss

I made the requested match between BruteForce 2.0 vs Boss 2.06. Was planning to play on the 6 maps, but quit after 4 games (4-0 for Boss), because BruteForce seems to have too many bugs at moment.

Here some notes: BruteForce has good feudal times, but has somehow always too much excess food and doesn´t create any skirms/spears when it could/should have. Scout fights spearman, when he should run away. Doesn´t seem to produce counter units although opponent has skirms(still goes archers). In Mongolia game, BruteForce doesn´t build a barracks until minute 20 and doesn´t create any infantry army units!!! And first unit to produce is a Mangonel.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback, I noticed this AI has a habit of doing things I don't tell it to do, like build an archery range instead of a stable as Spanish. I shall investigate into it, I just suck at analysis.

Daedric 1.7 -> Full Random (Persians) vs The Horde 3.5 -> Full Random (Teutons)
Map -> Mongolia

Daedric's scouting missed 2 sheep and its second boar and was forced to go onto deer and farms quite early, adding a sheep counter and increasing sn-home-exploration-time until it can find these sheep would help it because at this time, The Horde is in a better state. (only missing one sheep) but it found it at around 11-12mins.

Daedric up first though, and it starts off by making nothing but skirmishers, The Horde was going to try spearmen and skirmishers but unfortunately Daedric got there first. Doesn't seem The Horde likes to garrison units inside its building, at the moment they just get instantly killed because they're out numbered, but I'm sure it helps in some way in atleast doing 1 hit per unit.

The Horde also continues to still train archers even though its going against nothing but skirms. The Horde manages to hold its own against that attack.

The Horde first to Castle Age followed shortly after by Daedirc, but The Horde has the tech advantage and pushed towards Daedrics base as soon as it hit castle and got crossbow, elite skirmisher and bodkin arrow upgrade. The Horde also throws in a few knights to help take out the skirms and archers of Daedric.

Daedrics army tries to confront the attack but he's outeched and loses its army to The Horde's fully upped castle army. The Horde sends in some rams now to take down Daedrics buildings, it doesn't look good for Daedric.

Daedric did build a castle but it wasn't in a good spot at all (didn't defend anything at all) This could use some looking into.

The aggression from The Horde was too much for Daedric and Daedric was forced to resign.

Winner: The Horde

Boss (Full Random => Celts) vs. UnfairSteel (Full Random => Franks)
Map Type: Mongolia

Boss advanced to the feudal age pretty quickly, trained a few spearmen and clicked the castle-age button at around 18 minutes while UnfairSteel went for a fast castle age time followed by a knight rush right away.

Steel didn't wait too long with attacking but its knights got obliterated by fighting spearmen from 2 barracks while also getting shot by the enemy town-center in the meantime.

Boss pumped out more pikes and x-bows and eventually attacked and defeated Steel who only trained cavalry.

Barbarian (Full Random => Aztecs) vs. Promi (Full Random => Mayans)
Map Type: Yucatan

Promi preformed a Drush, where barbarian flushed. Promi's drush reached Barbie shortly before he reached feudal-age but targeted nothing else but a mill. When barbarian reached feudal age it re assigned some villagers who crossed the path of the militia. however barbie instantly targeted the militia which made them flee. and as soon the attacking stopped the villagers resetted giving barely to no idle time. Promi followed up by placing a range and blacksmith forward. Barbie however now having several archers and skirmisher picked off about 5 villagers before the buildings where fully built. and then destroyed the buildings / the units beeing made in the archery range with no effort. Promi doing his absolute best in keeping up in military numbers and actualy succeding good enough to make Barbarian not just want to go on a full out attack yet. (the forward blacksmith did seem to prove usefull in delaying the enemy to catch up in troop count) Barbie advances first and waits a rather long time before going on the offensive. Promi gets up to castle just intime. and gets the upgrade to elite-skirms seconds before he might have lost his entire army. shortly after this upgrade barbarian retreats. Barbarian now adds in Mangonels and then the game ends fast.

Juggernaut (Full Random => teutons) vs. Tron (Mongols)
Map Type: Yucatan

Seems like i totaly forgot to put Juggernaut on huns... rerunning the game on same map

Tron is going for a flush while Juggernaut wants to fast castle. but then switches to a flush when it relizes Tron is going to. Juggernaut attacks once in feudal age, but doesnt manage to breach or make sufficent damage.

Tron advanges to the castle-age first and launches his standard attack of xbows and light cavs. Juggernaut beeing a minute later to the castle-age takes huge damage although managing to repel the attack. Both AI's now trying to get eco and armies up... to which Tron after some time attacks again and now manages to breach Juggernaut defences.

Juggernaut was trying to put up a castle exactly when Tron deceided to attack and lost about 10-20 vills before the actual armies clashed, and never got the castle.

Winner (Tron)
record (On request)

Juggernaut (Huns) vs. Tron (Mongols)
Map Type: Yucatan

Juggernaut Drushed and manged to do some damage. then forwarded a tower and there where so flushing battle, nothing serious happend. however Juggernaut done enough damage to Tron to up to castle at the same time. so Trons standard light cav, xbow attack got stopped without any serious damage. from there on the game went on with fighting and retreating a couple of times. to which at some point juggernaut deceided to go imp. while Tron had no intentions to do this and kept full on castle fightin. Juggernaut didnt really get any imp upgrades. but a trebu behind his armies was enough to slowly win.

Winner (Juggernaut)
Record (on request)
Game time (1:21:21)

Is_machine (Full Random => Aztecs) vs. The Khanate (Full Random => Goths)
Map Type: Yucatan

Yucatan again

Both AI's went for a flushing set-up. The khanate forwarded a tower hitting nothing. Holding back is_machine for a good while though, But doing minimum damage as their no army comming to defend the tower.

Is_machine then tries to push forward with his skirm based army into the fully upgraded scouts from khanate, obviously this didnt turn out great. However The khanate uses none of its archers as its town is under attack. neither doe she use them to push out now that there is a opening. instantly giving away the advantage and losing all his scouts. Is_machine pushes up almost imediantly again now having his skirms facing the archers of the khanate.

The khanate doesnt get defeated right at that moment yet for the lucky factor that all his eco is botteld up behind his TC. and rather unreachable. still taking some idle time around the tc though.

IS_machine not relizing the khanate is massing knights inside his stables sees his skirm army get completly destroyed once again. however again The khanate does not notice the huge opening. Is_machine starting to build a castle on the right side of his town. and makes it almost imposible for the_khanate to make succesfull raids / attacks, if he was ever planning to try this.

The khanate makes 2 stables forward / besides is_machine hsi town. however these are spotted and taken down. besides that they are basicly unused so not sure what the profit was from building them.

Is_machine now having pikeman to deal with the knights pushes into the khanate and ends the game.

Winner (Is_Machine)

And to Scripter. what i have understood (i might be wrong) is that these playoffs are kinda there to declare a final winner of season 1, without actualy changing much in the rating? and hopefully i suppose to kinda get this tournement feeling and get people more intrested to check these BO3 BO5 matches out. and well ofcourse its the best chance for Barbarian to just show who's boss once again and stomp everyone

Playoff
game 1:
Promi (Full random => Byzantines) vs Crusade (Full random => Mongols)
Map: Arabia

Promi going for a flush build up into archers and manages to reach feudal age at 10:38. short idle time on archery range due to double queue in one of them. but verry good none the less
However due to beeing unable to find Crusade this gave no true advantage. As soon as Promi found Crusade it launched it attacks, having a small military advantage but not enough to get through. Crusade starts towering his own base more and more without showing any signs of wanne go up to the castle-age. even at some point deceiding to try and place forward towers to the long time castle-age Promi. afterwhich Crusade launched a full on assult feudal age vs Castle-age.

Clearly Crusade army got oblitrated. at around 40 minutes crusde reached castle-age but it was to late to even try any kind of comebacks. Promi slowly kept pushing while getting his eco in the end-game shape

Winner of game 1 (promi)
Game-time (50:49)

Record (will be uploaded togather with the other games on after all matches.)

game 2:
Promi (Full random => Vikings) vs Crusade (Full random => Turks)
Map: Arabia

Promi has really bad wood. and therefor also places 1 lumber-camp almost compleetly useless. however i think he does seem to relize this with a verry early third lumber-camp. Promi going for archers / skrims. while Crusade is going for scouts, skirms, man at arms and a few archers. None of the AI's seems eager to attack. Crusade sneaks in a forward tower. but it is inrange of nothing and is placed closed tot he uselss lumber-camp of promi.

Crusde keeps building army / towers and shows no intention what so ever to either attack or up again. He places another forward tower which is now right on 2 of promi's working lumber-camps. however promi just relocated and takes no serious damage.

Crusade then deceides to attack from feudal-age to the already castled Promi. Despite doing some damage its not nearly worth it for Crusade who sees his entire army get oblirated again. Promi counter attacks. compleetly ignoring the still 3 forward towers and just ends the game.

Winner of game 2 (Promi)
game-time (52:00)

I played a third game, although not need anymore with the same results. i will include it in the records but not write a review.

Haha ye i am aware how BO whatever works :-) But im not checking them while playing. i just start up 3 games in a row and check them out later... so might aswell upload the 3rd one along even if not necessary right?

Guessing ill judge Juggernaut vs The_Horde aswell then

Playoff Round 1
game 1:
Jugeernaut (Huns) vs The_Horde (Full random => Turks)
Map: Yucatan

Juggernaut started off with a Drush doing basicly no damage and the_horde flushed. The_horde tried to flush asap but Juggernaut got up to feudal-age and had enough units intime to make The_Horde retreat.

Nothing happend for a while. The horde deceided to go castle-age. while Juggernaut deceided to start a push. and this turned out to be the right desision. The_Horde's gold spots was forwarded... and now without any access to it, he couldnt get any of the upgrades on his units. clearly having less units then juggernaut at this point the horde starts to slowly die.

Juggernaut some later also advances to castle-age. first deceides to boom some before adding in rams and the game ends at 40:11

Winner: Juggernaut

game 2:
Jugeernaut (Huns) vs The_Horde (Full random => Goths)
Map: Gold rush

Juggernaut deceides to Drush again... lucky for him not finding a single wolf in its path. Drush isnt extreemly effective although it creates some minor idle times.

Juggernaut done exactly the same thing... and The_horde pretty much also but with man at arms this time. this timing having back gold the_horde managed to survive the juggernaut push. he got quite alot of idle time and villager harrasment though.

Now for a good while not much happend. both AI's booming while maintaining a decent army. The main deceider in this game was (i think) the fact that Juggernaut mined the mid gold from verry early on and barely ever got harrased out, while when the_horde tried to get mid gold contiuesly faced harrasment.

Juggernaut was the first to advance to imperial-age. The_horde some later. The_hordes army got quite easly overpowerd though and then having no gold gave the game quickly to Juggernaut.

game time: 1:02:53
Winner: Juggernaut
record (http://aok.heavengames.com/blacksmith/showfile.php?fileid=12464)

Overall winner, Juggernaut!

I did run a 3rd game aswell, which gave a victory to The_Horde, map oasis. But it matters few since it was the third game. 2 - 0.

Game 1: Tron (Mongols) vs. Daedric (Japanese)

Map: Gold Rush

Both AIs have a pond near their base, but Tron's is more limiting. Daedric has some protection due to forests fairly near his starting base. Tron advances first and goes stable/range while Daedric goes for 2 ranges and a blacksmith. Daedric attacks with skirms at 18 min while Tron lazily defends with his scouts and ranged units. Both AIs advance and switch to xbows although Tron also adds light cavalry. The latter addition plus gains made during Feudal warfare allows Tron to gain the edge in combat, and a well-placed castle for Daedric isn't enough to defend.

Game 2: Daedric (Japanese) vs. Tron (Mongols)

Map: Arabia

Tron feudals two minutes faster than Daedric. Daedric goes range/smith while Tron goes stable/range/smith. Daedric attacked at 20 min with m@a/skirm while Tron defended with scouts/archers. Tron attacked at 27 min after researching Castle Age while Daedric was in the middle of aging up. The age advantage helped Tron gain the advantage and a second wave of attacks from Tron overcame his opponent.

Recorded Games

I selected Full Random for both games for Daedric. The Japanese just happened to be selected both times.

Babarian (Full-random => Goths) vs Juggernaut (Huns)
Map: Gold Rush

Juggernaut drushed where as Babarian feudal rushed with man at arms. 4 man drush reached Babarian after he reached feudal-age. Drush killed 1 villager. Barbarian started to counter push with man-at-arms adding skirms and a few archers later. however Juggernauts villagers manage to take care of the man at arms threath quite effectivly.

some more skirmishers occur without any real damage other then troop loses mainly for juggernaut. Barbarian advances tot he castle-age. destroys juggernauts army before he can up to castle and ends the game.

game 2:
Babarian (Full-random => Britons) vs Juggernaut (Huns)

Not much happend for a while. then Barbarian attacked cleared out juggernauts army untill after a while its mainly archer based army got taken out by skirms. Juggernaut kept suiciding in units while babarian was just keeping his troops around his tower now while advancing. Babarian charges juggernaut before his unit upgrades are done but it matters not. Juggernaut is defeated just refusing to resign.

Game 1: Promi (Full Random => Celts) vs. TRON (Mongols)

Map: Arabia

Promi feudaled before the 11 min mark while Tron followed a minute later. Promi goes 2 ranges/smith while Tron goes stable/range/smith. Promi flushes at 15 min with archers which is defeated by Tron scouts. After the flush, Promi adds spears and skirms, while Tron goes scouts/archers. Promi goes heavy military and attacks again at 25 min. A ranged battle is waged as Tron advances to Castle. Promi wins the battle, but is slowly beaten back by Tron's more advanced troops. At 29.5 min, Promi Castles.

Tron attacked at 32.5 min but his light cavalry and xbows are beaten back by pikes and elite skirmishers. However, at 41 min Tron attacked again with cav archers and mangudai. Promi's added mangonels and knights weren't numerous to fight off Tron's superior numbers, and Promi resigned at 50 min.

Winner: TRON

Game 2: Promi (Full Random => Mongols) vs. TRON (Mongols)

Map: Mongolia

It's a Mongol war! The age up times were the same as last time. The strategies also appear to be the same, although Promi added a couple spears to the initial flush which reached TRON before 14 min. It was effectively defeated by Tron's ranged troops. Promi decided to quickly Castle this time, advancing at 23 min while Tron followed at 26 min. Promi uses his time advantage to research xbow and e-skirm. Tron attacked this time, around 27-28 min, which was defeated by Promi. However, Tron was able to amass a 20-pop advantage. Tron's next attack came at 33 min, with later attacks coming at 37 and 39 min. The last attack was too much for Promi.

Winner: TRON

Match Result:
TRON vs. Promi: 2-0

Hey all, just a heads up that as I'm getting back in to this, I'll run the 3rd place match for you guys

Edit:

Promi (Random => Chinese) vs. Juggernaut (Huns)
3rd Place Match: Game One (Oasis)

Both AIs seem to start well in terms of Town Center production, with very little idle time. Juggernaut goes for an early Lumber Camp to produce the wood to construct himself an early Barracks. Shortly after he sends three Militia over to Promi, disrupting his wood collectors slightly before slapping away at a house for a while. During this time Promi advances to the Feudal Age and quickly dissuades the pesky Militia with a few Archers.

Promi continues to produce Archers and adds a few Skirmishers while Juggernaut does the same with the exception of a littering of Spearmen to accompany them on their next quest: another assault on the unsuspecting Promi's base! His efforts appear futile however, as the Villager sent forwards (possibly to build a tower) was sent packing by a nearby wolf! Juggernaut loses a few units to Promi before promptly deciding to attempt another siege on the Chinese base. This time a much greater number of units bear down upon Promi only to be met by an even heavier defensive front. Juggernaut's units run straight through Promi's base, the few that attempt to attack are quickly swept away by the far superior force. Promi advances to the Castle Age with a 900 score lead. During this time Juggernaut refuses to cease his offensive and manages to sneak a Watch Tower in; this time without the interference of the wildlife! Juggernaut advances.

Both AIs begin to train Knights, Promi's quickly dispatch the forward Watch Tower that's been bothering his Lumberjacks. Both now appear to be happy to relax and take a sabbatical from the fighting. Minutes pass as the action is stalled. Promi continues to train Knights and Crossbowmen while Juggernaut goes for Knights, Cavalry Archers, Light Cavalry, Elite Skirmishers, Pikemen and a few siege units. Both AIs raise defensive castles as Promi develops more quickly thanks to a better economy. A second castle from Promi as he progresses to the Imperial Age with Juggernaut a few minutes behind.

Yet more castles for Promi who works towards every upgrade possible for his army with Juggernaut slightly behind! Juggernaut clearly feels he has the advantage though because he initiates an attack on Promi's weaker side. Paladins, Heavy Cavalry Archers and Siege Rams rain down upon poor Promi as well as a few cheaper units. Promi quickly moves over to defend his helpless Villagers. Is it too late? Is Juggernaut too strong? Both armies struggle to navigate their ways through Promi's tightly packed city but the mass of archery and siege units from Promi begin to push Juggernaut back. Elite Chu Ko Nu's, Heavy Scorpions and Elite Skirmishers lay down covering fire for the ongoing rams to level poor Juggernaut's castles. Trebuchets join in too. Juggernaut's attempts at defending are in vain as a lack of gold is costing him after he spent so much upgrading to get those Paladins and Heavy Cavalry Archers before. The wall of Elite Skirmishers and Hussar are not prepared for the might of Promi's destructive army. Juggernaut soon accepts defeat and resigns.

Game time: 01:11:37 (Fast 3x)
Winner: Promi

Juggernaut (Huns) vs. Promi (Random => Mayans)
3rd Place Match: Game Two (Gold Rush)

Juggernaut again goes for an early Lumber Camp to fund his Dark Age Barracks. He trains a few Militia before attacking while Promi goes to the Feudal Age. Juggernaut's soldiers slap away at houses again while his scout kills one of Promi's Villagers that attempts to build a Blacksmith. A few Archers eliminate the threat while Promi stays defensive despite now having a massive military advantage. Juggernaut is in Feudal now.

The two of them both go about training Archers and Skirmishers for the time being. Eventually Juggernaut gets bored and decides to attack, slowed down slightly by the Wolves patrolling the gold in the middle. Juggernaut appears to be pushing in to Promi's base slightly until he is greeted with the unwelcome message that Promi has made his way to the Castle Age. Horror spreads across the faces of the helpless pawns that Juggernaut is sending to certain doom. With no military units left, he decides it's time to advance too and starts training some Knights and then a few Cavalry Archers. I've seen this before...

NOT LIKE THIS HOWEVER as it is now Promi attempting an attack on Juggernaut while still in the Castle Age! Hoards of Crossbowmen and Elite Skirmishers cover for their rams to try and destroy a Juggernaut Town Center. Both teams train some Mangonels in an attempt to gain an advantage. Juggernaut trying to desperately to push Promi off his burning Town Center before a ram finishes the job. Thus beginning the battle for control of the huge gold stockpiles residing in between them. Promi is in the Imperial Age now, his larger army thwarting Juggernaut's attempts at collecting any of that sweet sweet gold in the middle. Juggernaut regains control of the center with various siege units and halts Promi's gold income while Promi's troops sit at base. Both AIs are now Imperial.

Promi is fed up of Juggernaut now. He wants this gold and will spare no expense in acquiring it. He constructs a Castle right in front of it to shield his miners. Rams! Arbalests! Elite Plumed Archers! Elite Skirmishers! Juggernaut's inferior upgrades and military numbers can not hold back Promi for long as the sight of that Bronze Medal fills his vision. Seeing his name up in lights Promi is unrelenting with his endeavors of wiping out every last Juggernaut unit that has walked this land. Promi cleans up the last of Juggernaut's Town Centers and Juggernaut resigns.

UP AI Ladder - Final
Barbarian vs. TRON

Game One: Arabia
Barbarian (Random => Turks) vs. TRON (Mongols)

Barbarian has what seems to be a very good start, he has so many hunted animals that he doesn't know which ones to take the food from after his scout delivered two fresh deer to his town center. TRON opts for a second mill to hunt his deer without realizing that his first mill is in fact closer to them! Barbarian manages a quick Feudal Age just after ten minutes with TRON following about a minute and a half later.

While Barbarian's low economy seems to hamper him a little, eventually he manages to send a few Scout Cavalry to flank towards TRON's gold camp. He kills two Villagers before backing away with TRON not even getting to respond to this fiendish move. Barbarian produces more units and groups them up at the front of his base before sending them towards TRON. Archers, scouts and a few Spearmen assault the Lumber Camp of TRON and put a massive dent in his economy. Barbarian lays down an offensive Watch Tower and surrounds it with Palisade. TRON is taking a pummeling so far and has no idea how to deal with this attack. Barbarian tactically goes about harassing and killing TRON's villagers, retreating to his Watch Tower whenever any military units come his way. TRON's own tower attempts to scare him off but Barbarian is unrelenting with his attack, eliminating Villagers and ignoring the tower completely! Barbarian advances a little before TRON and quickly upgrades his Archers to Crossbowmen.

Barbarian's thriving town is a daunting prospect to a TRON who has had his village left in ruins. Barbarian sends some Crossbowmen towards TRON which are held up a little by some Light Cavalry. TRON tries frantically to rebuild but this one appears to be over now. Barbarian adds some rams and Jannisary to speed up the process of removing TRON from the game before going Imperial. TRON resigns after he loses all his Villagers and Town Centers.

Winner: Barbarian
Game Time: 00:49:44 (Fast x3)
Recorded Game: I'll upload them all at the end!

Game Two: Gold Rush
TRON (Mongols) vs. Barbarian (Random => Britons)

In this game I see Barbarian's even micro-ing his sheep like a pro player, as Briton's too this means his food income at the start will have a massive boost and gives him the upper hand in the Dark Age. After much struggle he also manages to chase some deer under his Town Center too. He then advances just before TRON.

Barbarian's skirmishers kill a few villagers before being chased away by TRON's Scout Cavalry. TRON loses countless villagers trying to build an Archery Range at the front of his base where Barbarian now has Archers, Skirmishers and Spearmen attacking. Eventually TRON releases his trained cavalry and chases Barbarian away again. Barbarian reaches the Castle Age and goes on another offensive. The Feudal and Castle armies go back and forth but eventually TRON advances too.

TRON has very little left and Barbarian slowly takes down his base again.

Winner: Barbarian
Game Time: 00:49:39 (Fast x3)
Recorded Game: Will upload all at the end.

Game Three: Ghost Lake
Barbarian (Random => Chinese) vs. TRON (Mongols)

Barbarian reaches Feudal first again and starts training Spearmen and Archers. TRON goes for Scout Cavalry and Archers. Barbarian launches an attack at 18:30 and completely ignores TRON's defensive Watch Tower, going straight for the gold camp of TRON. Barbarian kills a villager or two but loses his whole army. Barbarian advances and sends another task force towards TRON but TRON's superior numbers quickly send them packing before he too eventually advances.

TRON begins an attack of his own, claiming the lives of a few blue soldiers and Villagers but losing a chunk of his own army at the same time. Barbarian attacks after a while with much larger numbers and eliminates TRON's army. Barbarian advances after a while and goes about destroying TRON's base for the third and final time.

Winner: Barbarian
Game Time: 00:49:33 (Fast x3)

The new season and round is up!

As a review, here are all the changes I can remember:

1. Each league now consists of 5 AIs, no matter what their actual ratings are, although at the beginning of each round each league will be reshuffled so that the leagues are organized by the AI ratings. Since we currently only have 13 AIs, we'll have two leagues of 4 AIs each.
2. During each round, each AI faces each other AI in its league twice. This is why there are two dashes to represent unplayed games in the schedule section.
3. Only one script per author, so UnfairSteel and The Unknown have been archived.
4. Requested games no longer count for score.
5. I am now strictly using the ELO system as used by FIDE (including K of 32). However, AIs with 5 or fewer games will use a K value of 48.

If there are any changes I forgot, let me know. Also, if there are any comments on the changes, I'm still willing to listen to them.

BruteForce (Full Random => Franks) vs. The Khanate (Full Random => Saracens)

Map: Gold Rush

The Khanate feudaled at 12.5 min while BruteForce followed soon after. Both AIs are slow to build their feudal buildings but both eventually build two ranges. BruteForce at one time sent several villagers to fish which probably slowed them down. A flush of Khanate spearmen and ranged units came at 17 min. The flush wasn't defeated for a while and eventually turned into a skirmisher battle. At 21 min, The Khanate was already up by 10 pop. The flush was eventually defeated at 22 min, but BruteForce's skirmishers suicided on Khanate's tower that guarded the center gold mines when trying to counterattack. The Khanate didn't decide to attack, but by 32 min, Khanate had 90 pop to BruteForce's 50. It was obvious at this point that BruteForce was lost, and defeat came at 53 min.

The Khanate (Full Random => Chinese) vs. BruteForce (Full random => Koreans)

Map: Mongolia

Both AIs feudaled around 13.5 min. A flush came from The Khanate at 17 min with spears and later by distracted ranged units. BruteForce had no military and only two barracks to train soldiers from. A forward tower from The Khanate came up at 20 min. Because of the lack of defensive soldiers, the flush wasn't defeated until 35 min when Khanate's crossbowmen decided to target a defensive guard tower. However, this relief was only temporary, since the flush had done its job. The Khanate achieved victory at 45 min.

IS Machine (Full Random => Japanese) vs. Chameleon (Full Random => Koreans)

Map: Yucatan

IS Machine went for a 22 pop, 10 min feudal. Chameleon had a slow 33 pop feudal. I'm not sure IS Machine took full advantage of this. He trained a good amount of soldiers for a flush but only built an archery range but no other feudal building. A flush from IS Machine came at 15 min but failed to successfully target anything before reforming ranks and attacking an aggressive villager. The flush proper came almost at 19 min when Chameleon had just advanced to the castle age but without a range or stable. However, IS Machine's army still kept on retreating 20 tiles away from Chameleon's town, attacking for a few seconds and then repeating the process. It was frustrating to watch, and Chameleon didn't take advantage of it by aggressively training a defensive army. Chameleon's scattering of soldiers never put up a resistance as IS Machine's unhindered army grew and eventually became agressive enough to defeat Chameleon at 43 min.

Chameleon (Full Random => Chinese) vs. IS Machine (Full Random => Japanese)

Map: Oasis

Chameleon selected UnfairestEel's Knight Rush. IS Machine had a quick feudal again with Chameleon having another long dark age. However, it was clear that Chameleon was going for a fast castle and advanced by 18 min. An IS Machine flush with a couple m@a and a bunch of skirmishers came soon after but was fairly easily defeated by Chameleon knights that were soon trained. IS Machine castled at 26 min. Peace followed with no counterattacks by Chameleon. At 30 min, IS Machine had regained the advantage and attacked again. IS Machine had a decent amount of pikemen as well as xbows and a couple knights, but his soldiers didn't target Chameleon's soldiers properly and lost the skirmish, although IS Machine retained pop superiority. At 36 min, a very well-placed Chameleon castle was constructed which was instrumental in helping Chameleon gain military superiority. Nevertheless, it wasn't until the 1-hour mark that Chameleon was consistently on the offensive. But ten minutes later, Chameleon had gained victory.

Recorded games upon request.

The Horde (Koreans) vs. Daedric (Aztecs)

Map: Oasis

Perhaps a match between the best and worst civs for AIs. Let's see if this gives Daedric the advantage.

The Horde had a bug trying to hunt his second boar. Only one villager attacked, so the villager had to keep garrisoning in the TC to kill it. Daedric feudaled at 12.5 min and immediately went 2 range and smith. The Horde had a 14 min, 31 pop feudal and went market/smith which probably means a fast castle. Indeed this was the case, but as The Horde was halfway to Castle, Daedric flushed with skirms at 17 min. Without a barracks, the skirms went mostly unhindered. The Horde built a monastery and tried to build a castle. After several delays, the castle was built at 22 min. Daedric retreated and castled at 25 min.

At 28 min, Daedric attacked again with normal skirms and xbows. The Horde's defense of war wagons, mangonels, and scorpions was pretty much ineffective because of Daedric's superior numbers. Daedric by this time was pretty much dominant, and all it took was a few rams to destroy The Horde's castles and claim victory.

Winner: Daedric

It might be The Horde's unlucky day. From the last game, I'm guessing the Koreans might not be The Horde's best civ.

Daedric advanced at 11.5 min with 25 pop. The Horde advanced a minute later, so perhaps the fc isn't coming. Daedric went 2 range/smith again and The Horde followed suit. Daedric flushed with 25 skirms at 20 min. The Horde defended with mixed ranged units and inferior numbers, so the flush wasn't driven off. At 26 min, Daedric castled and brought in xbows. Daedric often kept The Horde's TC garrisoned and was able to achieve a quick victory at 34 min.

Winner: Daedric

Boss (Persians) vs. Crusade (Huns)

Map: Ghost Lake

Both AIs feudaled a bit before 13 min. Crusade went double range while Boss went with a range followed by a late blacksmith. Crusade actually went for forward towers. One of the towers was lucky enough to hit Boss' gold mine. At 19 min, Crusade soldiers, a mix of m@a and ranged units, hit Boss' town. One of Crusade's two towers went down before Crusade's attack took full effect, but Crusade's attack force was greatly superior in numbers. However, Crusade eventually lost most of his soldiers to Boss' TC, but soldiers kept on coming in. Crusade's attacks didn't become dominant until he castled at 32 min. Once knights entered the scene, Boss was lost, and Crusade rams finished off his TC. Cleanup lasted another 5 minutes.

Winner: Crusade

Crusade (Saracens) vs. Boss (Franks)

Map: Gold Rush

Both feudaled around the same time. Crusade went range/smith with a second range following later. Boss was late in building his range and smith. Both sides silently trained their armies and their economies, though Crusade had a 10 pop advantage by 20 min because of military. At 22 min, Crusade finally attacked, but the attack was mostly unsuccessful because his soldiers didn't attack as an organized group. Instead, Boss' ranged units attacked Crusade's soldiers one by one while most of Crusade's soldiers were busy attacking a mining camp. By 26 min, the attack was over.

Boss was the first to advance to Castle at 31 min while Crusade followed 2.5 min later. Boss successfully built a second TC and also was the first to get relics. Crusade decided to train light cavalry in addition to large amounts of ranged units while Boss decided to train additional pikemen instead of cavalry. There was still no Castle Age combat by 40 min as both AIs approached their max pop. The biggest difference between the two is that Boss had possession of the central mines and probably had a better army composition due to his pikemen to counter Crusade's light cavalry and knights.

Boss advanced to Imperial at 46 min which may be enough to achieve victory if he attacks soon. Crusade however had a castle constructed. However, Crusade was the first to break the peace, interrupting Boss' gold mining operations with a dozen soldiers. This starting a full-on battle though, with Crusade advancing to the Imperial Age at 48 min. However, the short amount of time that Boss had better soldiers gave him an initial advantage, as well as his higher number of elite skirms to counter Crusade's xbows. Soon Crusade was on the defensive and the game was virtually over by the hour mark.

Winner: Boss

Unlucky indeed. Aztecs or Vikings vs Koreans on an open map is a civ win

Oasis in theory should be different since it's a semi-closed map, but AIs don't wall up, which would have been quite helpful for Koreans here.

I'd rather that The_Unknown play rather than Khanate, because it is the only AI I am still working on and a slightly updated version will be loaded sometimes in unk's new version (coming out in 2197).

Thanks for judging everyone! I'll probably start judging again soon.
