To Those Who Played the Scenario:

Firstly I hope you enjoyed the map and that the storyline wasn't too confusing too follow. Hopefully you haven't encountered too many bugs and if you have, I kindly suggest to read the next paragraph

Aim of This Thread:

I have just released a campaign called '~~ The Prophecy ~~'. As it is a fairly lengthy scenario, it is possible that some minor bugs might still occur when people play it (even though it has been tested hundreds of times). Should people encounter any, I would greatly appreciate it if people post them here so I can fix them as soon as possible for future downloaders. Unfortunately the "comment" option in the blacksmith requires comments to be accepted before they can be posted and can cause long delay, which is not the case with a Thread in the Scenario Design forum.

Feel free to post any suggestions or comments or constructive criticism as they will all be greatly appreciated.

Those Who Haven't Played the Scenario:

I suggest you download it and play it as soon as possible . I'm sure you'll enjoy at least a bit if Tanneur99 has called it a masterpiece.

Regards,

Silver Serpent

This map design criticism is starting to get really silly. When you start analyzing the nutrition needs of palm trees and complain about the lack of water for them you are being too picky IMO. it is a 2D game with cartoony graphics, 256 colours, and like only 20 terrain choices. Nothing is going to be botanically or historically correct. If it looks nice, which this map does, I say cut the guy some slack.

Now back to the topic: I am encountering a bug, when I buy the 10 slaves nothing happens afterwords and I have waited several minutes, I have no other objectives other than surviving and nothing happens. I have reloaded and played through again, same problem. Suggestions?

Same happened to me. I went to the mercenaries and hired them to take out the bandits so I could trade, and then after awhile something happened (won't say so I won't spoil it).

The ten slaves worked fine for me, even the next ten. I did buy them kind of late though. My problem is that I built the foundations for the pyramid but it was never crossed out as done. I have played quite a bit farther than that and everything is done but the 'foundations'. I guess I'll have to reload and play from way earlier just to see what happend? (I think that maybe it took so long to get people down there and working that the top right corner disappeared before they got to it. That was the only part that wasn't symetrical.)

finished it on hard, I saw almost no difference from moderate except there were mangonels.

@ Matty12345: SPOILER:

After buying 10 slaves, Orion should be talked to by a guy previously called 'Stranger'. Orion is then tasked to him (automatically) and the scenario continues when he is at that unit.

I have 2 suggestions of what might have gone wrong:

1) The chat triggers at 9 slaves or so (not exactly sure). So you might not have enough slaves to trigger it. If you have not spent all 500 food on slaves it is likely this is the problem. There is a max (vill + trade cart) count so by deleting a few trade carts you can buy more slaves.

2) The chat has been triggered but Orion cannot get to the 'Stranger' because he is blocked behind some building or unit.

Please let me know if any of these solve your problem, if not I'd be glad to have a look at your saved game to see what happened.

@ Impeached: If the previous part does not help you, please post your problem because if you don't it is kinda hard to get what went wrong and guess up a solution

@ Jas the Mace1: Don't worry and do not reload... What you encountered is something I knew already for a long time and there's nothing drastically bad about it. The conditions of the 'Build Pallisades' and 'Build Pyramid' have been swapped by accident. I have tried to change this but do not seem to find those two triggers anymore Just build the pyramid and pallisades and both objectives will be completed eventually.

@ Jatayu: If you haven't noticed the differences then I have made them subtle which is a good thing because I can assure you it is very different from moderate. Here are some differences:

SPOILER

Moderate --> Hard: Mangonels, 50% more cavalry archers, 30% more cavalry units, half the time to get reinforcements, 33% less time to prepare for battle, less techs researched so slower to gather reseources before battle, more time needed to train units, siege and techs, less time to prepare for treb.

All that is only considering the battle part. Perhaps you merely played it much better this time round because you had already played it once.
A rating of 5 is for an outstanding map with lots of special details and concentrated effort to make the map much better than a random map could possibly provide. Obviously, a rating of 4 is given for maps that are slightly better than a random.
I find it unfortunate Jatayu that you find my map "slightly better than a random map".

DESERT:

The desert has many palms towards the parts close to the river because there's a lot of water there. The parts in the East (dryer and farther from the river) have very little palms relative to the parts near the river and more cacti. The dirt1 (indicating moisture in the ground) is also found more near the river than in the East. This is not a desert like in the Sahara or Namib desert, it does have yearly rainfall (shown by the 'streams' going from oasis to oasis) and does get water from the river. Plants can grow on sand dunes (ie. dunes at the beach have a clear succession of plants). Due to little nutrients in sand little other grows in this desert other than some palm types. For those who believe this is all unrealistic, look at it as part of the scenario. You wouldn't go saying that magic isn't real nor will I try to convince you of it being so. We all have our opinions, and in my humble opinion this desert looks nice ven though it may not be 100% realistic.

See the troublesome thing about the rating system is that you can't distinguish between a little modified random map and a great one with a few flaws. According to your explanation of the desert, it is ok if the desert wasn't supposed to play a major role, but as it happens in your scenario, it does. Water- the symbol of life in a desert country, all the cities and settlements are on the banks of the river. Also, Orion starts getting affected by the sun which he should not if every 2 tiles he had a shady tree to rest under I assure you, the city especially is really marvellously designed.

well actually there are only a few more things to criticize in this map, so I might as well.

some of the chat is annoying, fast paced, and out of place. For example
General: Run to fort irony
Assassin: kill Orion!
Guard: only people with special permit may enter

within a couple of seconds. This happens in 2-3 places, doesn't look too nice.

Also a few things wrong with the muslim city of Kuigo, you don't have wine/beer/taverns or crosses in the graveyard. Minor points though.

Desert: I suppose I can't tell you to like the desert if you don't. So there's no point in me arguing that any further because I'd be argueing longer than it actually took me to make the desert . I can however assure you that you can get very thirsty in a hot place even if you're in the shade

As for the chat: In that particular example the fast succession of chats was done on purpose to create an atmosphere of chaos. I can imagine that it can get annoying at other instances but you could always play it on a lower speed if you find it too fast.

I was aware of the fact that a Muslim city doesn't usually have a Christian crosses of alcohol but it gets quite hard to think of nice things to fill up such a large city

If that's all you found to criticize (no need to look for anything else though, it's time better spent designing something ), I suppose I did a fairly good job overall

I would review it, but there are a few bugs. The main things are the bugs listed below, but also there is some bad spelling/grammar. I.e. missing commas, misspelled words, incomplete sentences (you can carry a sentence between two chat lines, yunno), etc.

SPOILER: (highlight to read)
After I assassinated Gavin, when I came out in the trade cart, about half the time (I had to reload 2-3 times), the trade cart got stuck behind Gavin's HCA guards, and Orion got out behind them aswell. Only twice did it work right, with the trade cart dropping you off at the oasis.

Also, before you get to the city to assassinate Gavin, you're supposed to get a chat from Damon about the south entrance being guarded. I didn't set that off the first time I got to the oasis. The area is probably missing a tile or two. That chat ended up getting set off when I got out of the city.

Lastly, when you enter the city from the desert, you still take damage, but you cannot die (you stay at 1 HP).

Well, after I hired the slaves, I got no new objectives, so I went exploring and found the mercenaries for hire. I decided to use them to take out the bandits and get my trade cart back. After I did take out the bandits, at no specific time it seemed, I got a sending from the architect.

Oh, and another thing after the bandits, are you supposed to be able to destroy the bandit's mining camp with loot later on, using your slaves?

@ Impeached:

SPOILER:

Orion gets stuck: Noticed that too and will fix it.

Chat not triggered: Will fix too.

Orion can't die: Will check into that too.

Architect doesn not react immediately: Will check and fix too.

Loot: It is part of the optional quest and is to be destroyed when you do that quest, with or without slaves, that's up to you.

Well I did notice a lot of other things that were *wrong*, or didn't work right. *SPOILER* (using Impeached's method)

For example during the battle the siege workshop didn't even appear until I had destroyed all the ships. Then the siege workshop and the objective appeared, and a message came informing me of the destruction of a non existent trebuchet. All this while the cutscene was starting.

Also, the battle isn't that much harder on hard, I found a good strategy. The most difficult is that grain ship one I could just do it in the nick of time (on hard)

I noticed a lot of subtle things while playing it again (on hard). For example General Tuvor overhearing the raiders stretches himself like it looks like he's putting his ear to the conversation lol.

Oh, and one more thing (SPOILER).

During the battle for Fort Irony, I lost a few times then reloaded. One time, I went and, right when the Haruchai landed, rushed all the transports with my knights. It was too easy, and some enemy units and scorpions still spawned.

Also, during the battle for Fort Irony, you should make some sort of battle going on at the north walls. Easy way to make it look like there's something going on in the north: Make all the units and walls at the north wall invincible, and have some spawning Haruchai just tasked to the wall.

well, thanks for the heads up SS (wait now there are two of you), I don't particularly feel like going all the way back to my last save point (maybe 15-20 minutes back). will it still work if I just task him there myself?

@ Matty12345: Yes that should work although you'll find it 'tricky'. You'll find out what I mean...

EDIT: Matty12345: I think I was mistaken previously... Try sell some gold for food in the market and buy another slave, that should fix it Or play the updated file that should be up in a day or two in which this problem is fixed.

UPDATE II:

I have sent an updated cpx file to Tanneur99 in which all the bugs mentioned in this post have been fixed. It should be up soon.
