INTRODUCING ...

Or GAPP for short, is an astounding breakthrough in the scientific community. For years scientists have struggle to make their claims about genetic memory known and accepted, but with little to no avail. Until recently the notion of storing real world events inside one’s Deoxyribonucleic acid was considered fictional; an outlandish theory. But when examined thoroughly, is the idea of genetic memory really so far-fetched? How does a newborn chick know to seek cover when confronted with an eagle? How do birds know to fly south for the winter? We have normally thought of these events as simply being instinct not genetic memory, but what if this is simply tautology. Need one exclude the other? Our Chief Scientist here at Chicago Science Inc., Jon Lackey, implores otherwise:

In molecular biology, genetic memory resides in the genetic material of the cell and is expressed via the genetic code used to translate it into proteins. The genetic code enables cells to decode the information needed to construct the protein molecules that make up living cells and therefore record and store a one-dimensional blueprint for all the parts that make up an organism. This blueprint or genetic memory in the form of species-specific collections of genes is passed from cell to cell and from generation to generation in the form of DNA molecules. DNA therefore functions as a template for protein synthesis. Genetic memory can be modified by epigenetic memory, a process by which changes in gene expression are passed on through mitosis or meiosis through factors other than DNA sequence.

With the diligent work of Dr. Lackey and his team, Chicago Science Inc. is proud to present the world’s very first genetic memory recall device, designed for commercial use. Yes, that’s correct, soon you and your friends will be able to relive remarkable moments in history, with amazing accuracy. Chicago Science Inc. has already begun beta testing on its new product known as the Genetic Analysis Phylogeny Program, or GAPP for short. We’ve worked closely with our computer science department to deliver a device that will not only make you familiar with history, it will present it in a way that is enthralling and exciting. With a simple user-interface, similar to what you might expect from a video game, you will be introduced to historical events in a very unique and remarkable way. Early testing from our programmers suggests that the experience is actually very reminiscent to what you would expect from a blockbuster movie or video game. But don’t take our word for it; sign up for our beta testing program and see this unbelievable new entertainment system for yourself.

Here are some screenshots from a recent beta test. Because of GAPP’s method of decoding genetic memories, the program has the ability to render wide angles, capturing much of a certain moment in history. (click different screenshots to enlarge)

With GAPP the process of recalling past genetic memories has been made relatively simple. Once installing the software on to your personal computer at home, you can simply place any item containing a sample of DNA into the included Personal Analyzation Device, or PAD for short. The PAD connects to your computer via a USB port. The only requirements for loading items onto the PAD is that it is small enough to fit and it won’t harm the hardware. The GAPP PAD’s advanced genetic azalyzation technology can retrieve genetic samples from even some of the most DNA-vacant items. Most of the time, if an item has ever been touched by human or even animal means, GAPP’s PAD has no trouble picking up that small trace of genetic code.

You may be wondering what exactly you will be viewing once your genetic sample is analyzed. Apart from looking like nothing else you have ever seen, we cannot guarantee a specific type of memory. GAPP is programmed to deliver a viewing experience that is relevant to that particular DNA sample. Remember that GAPP is still in its testing phase so bugs and glitches are bound to...

If I understood correctly this device called GAPP shows our memories on the computer screen when we enter our DNA in it.

Oh hello there newIdea, so is this your entry to the ACSC that you've been showing off through that "movie poster" and "count down" in your signature?

Too similar to Assassin's Creed for my liking.
GWAME,some work for you
Why Gwame? :/

No he doesn't, you need to go back on your medication.
I think that's the idea.
I know, but it's still not creative compared to an original story or idea, but I suppose trying to adapt it to the AoK engine is interesting enough.

Well, this thread is certainly interesting. Wish I would have thought of it.
I sense a slight saturation change on the dirt textures.
I noticed those small details too. Pretty sweet.
Too similar to Assassin's Creed for my liking.
I don't necessarily agree with this (the tight comparison, not your opinion). Sure the topic of genetic memory is somewhat monopolized in the science fiction department by Assassin's Creed, but the concept is far from new. AC's developers admitted that their adaptation was based off real-world research that's going on.

I would actually like to see a different side of the topic. This seems like more of a commercialized, less "world domination" form of genetic memory than AC. Although, AC is great.
You know smurf accounts are against the CoC, right?
You're right. Chicago Science, make sure you don't make any smurf accounts unless their authorized by the staff, perhaps for some sort of presentational means(SD Community for PbP would be a good example).

EDIT:
... so is this your entry to the ACSC that you've been showing off ...
Looks like an actual project to me, but I could be wrong. That'd be cool if a prologue of some sort was submitted into the ACSC, though. I'd love to see that. Though, the actual project probably wouldn't be finished for a while.

Hmm, projects with prologues submitted to the ACSC have a very poor survival rate. Actually, not one of them has ever been finished.

I don't see why a few people in this topic are upset about it. The presentation is fairly brilliant, especially since nobody seems to know what to expect from the poster or the topic itself. Lets just hope that s/he got permission to smurf is s/he already has.

It is also great innovative. The poster combined science with map design in aoe2. That is a unique way of presenting a scenario.

It isn't actually against the letter of the law, either. The rules say this about smurfing:
'You may not register multiple accounts with intent to violate any part of this CoC.' (Emphasis mine.)
It isn't actually against the rules as long as you don't use the smurf account to avoid punishment or break the rules.

Dear Readers,

Chicago Science is very excited to announce that the primary beta testing footage will be released by sometime tomorrow, right on schedule. The team here at Chicago Science has been working overtime to get this exclusive sneak peak at GAPP ready for the masses and we really think we have come up with something you will all enjoy. Though, as it turns out, we actually do not have proper permission to use your "Blacksmith," file uploading system. As a result, we have chosen a lucky forumer from this very forum to present the never-before-seen footage in our stead. We are extremely happy to announce that your fellow forumer, newIdea will be submitting our work to your Blacksmith service. If, for any reason, the file is not in your Blacksmith by tomorrow, an external link to download the file directly will be provided in this thread.

See you soon,
Chicago Science Inc.
