Unit/Building Concepts


Recently I've noticed a lot of new units going up on the blacksmith both copy/paste and modeled and thought it would be nice to have an open forum for people to put cool unit concepts and give ideas for units they would like to see. I can see there are a lot of projects currently in the works and wouldn't mind sharing any concepts or completed graphics I come up with.

I invite anyone else to post their own ideas for units as well as any they've completed and are willing to share.

Personally I'm no good at 3d modeling and my units are all copy/paste for the most part but either are welcome.

It is always possible technically(especially with the new RoN blender plugin), but I'm more interested in developing my own unit models rather than converting things from other games.

After a long time tried my hand on a recolor unit.Full unit is done might try to make few more versions before the release.


Unit made by soldiers_todd this was given to me as a test unit.

Nice units, Mahazona!
Maybe Soldier Todd should check if his perspective and light are fit to aok. The units shadows look a bit too long perhaps
Other than that good job,the design is nice and animations look smooth
I wonder what program he uses

Well, Rodion is correct.

The shadows are slightly too long. In AOK the shadow falls directly below the units, not across them.

I noticed you are making RON units as well
Ivenend, if I understood correctly, are you involved in modding the game Rise of Nations?
(especially with the new RoN blender plugin)
Where can I download plugins? Is it possible to see somewhere a video instruction on the export of 3D models in the "Rise of Nations"?

Yes they are not very good quality compared to other units.Cavalry units might be even low poly.

Something I started to make cant seem to get the player colors working so gave up the idea.Unit is taller than the regular units as well.
Original unit converted by snow11 I just adjusted the frames.

Off-topic: I've been interested in for a long time how would look in Rise of Nations 3D model from Roma Total War.
For example, this hoplite:

But, unfortunately, I do not know how to export 3D models to Rise of Nations.

But.... what is the first unit? Is it a Turkish Janissary holding a western two-handed sword? that would be a weird combination.

These are not released yet I will release when the full set of foot units are complete by soldiers todd.

I know the first unit is not accurate im just trying to fit the original unit line.

Does anyone recall where this modded unit, a AOK Mameluke mounted on a regular horse not a camel can be found? I recall someone made it but I don't recall where it was uploaded if at all. It looked very good.

something I found in my old mails I think this is from Hawk.net the colors got messed up when converting to aok format.If anyone wants I can release.

The Spartan hoplite is a character I've always wanted in AOK. I believe he did one, so can you try and fix that one?

That unit had wrong proposition if I remember,I can fix it up but what is the use of it in a medieval setting?
Anyway the unit is taller than a normal unit and its a real pain going back and forth to resize it to a correct size.If you can resize it for me I can fix the colors and frame count.

I was trying to add player color to your axeman but it didn't come out right.

Would there be an interest in having unique villager units for different regions? Such as each art set having their own villagers. I imagine this has never been done because of the amount of animation needed. I've discussed this idea already with our animation guy in the Expanding Fronts mod for SWGB. Together, we've already done 2 new Worker droids for that mod as well as several other units.



We'd just need some concept drawings or preferrably base models to start with for each male and female villager.
