Yeah, this is massive. I wanted to try a similar thing with Terraria (I made "Omnir's Modpack"), but as far as LOTR goes, I have a long way XD

This gives me time to make my own unit for this, though (for personal use, as I am limited to pixel art :<)

2 questions:
1. Are you able to add new units, or simply replace old ones?
2. Out of pure curiosity, when this project finishes (hahaha), would you take commissions for a custom unit? It'd be long (to the knees), red hair, Mirkwood armor, and wielding a Glamdring-like two handed sword.

I know what it's like to be a modder and have people ask for custom stuff, and so I'm sorry on that end, but I have to know :P

We add a lot of new units, there are considerably more units than aok. In aok each civ has one UU. We have civs with half a dozen or more. That's all extra unit slots.

I've done some units for other people, so I might be willing to make you something. Unless you mean you want it added to ToME, in which case there would have to be a good reason for it.

And nay, no need to add it to ToME. If you're sincerely ok with making it: A long, red haired guy with a long two handed sword. Red armor (likely Galadhrim) over a black robe

What I did are just graphical changes, I have no clue on data edit.

I made a set of:

1- Archer - Marksman - Cuthalion
2- Spearman - Pikeman
3- Town militia - Man of arms - Foot knight - Sword thain
4- Scout- Vanguard - Knight - Heavy knight
5- Unique units - special alliance sets - random faction units.

For all the 18 civs, so that is like... 234 new units base + some heros and some other weird stuff.. I guess is like 250 new units or something close to that

But I have no clue wich ones they decide to include on the mod, there is enough material to make every civ to have his completely unique skin so no one repeat graphics.

Could you guys please allow me to use some of your units(Armed peasant and white wolf) in my mod? You guys will be credited of course!
Also, I would like to know: I see that you used Inno Setup to make your installer. Could you tell me what did you do to make it not add "Age of Empires II" in every installation path? My mod also uses Inno Setup, but, every time someone chooses a different path, the installer automatically adds "Age of Empires II" to it. I would be grateful if you could help me!

Fine. Rhun today, and I had to paste the wainrider in because he's not implemented yet.

I had a look at the dropbox today. No new installer? Is the .dat file updated?

Might want to hold off a bit on the AI. Most civs have changes that aren't showing up in the dropbox version. The version in the dropbox is mostly for me to take screenshots with. Pulkit's working on the next version which hasmore gameplay changes.

Most of them made it in one way or the other. For example, the Gondor unit line is used for Numenor and Arnor as well, but then the Numenor units are used for the King's Men tech. The Arnor sword unit is used for the Tarkil, etc. I imagine 90% of the units made it in or more.

The armed peasant you are welcome to use. As for the white wolf, which one do you mean? There's the recolored AoK one that Pulkit did, and the larger one that Angmar can train that I did. If you are talking about mine, I'm happy to let you use it, so long as you wait until after ToME gets released. I'd rather my graphics not be appearing first in other mods.

As for the installer, Pulkit put it together, so he is better off answering that.

But I think it will worth it at the end all the hard work.

Every screenshot that you posted featuring a new civ it looks unique with his buildings and units, the only thing that remind me that this is still aok is the type of iso cam and the lightings.

If you look back at older screens the mod have achieved a new level, i think the only "aok thing" remaining in the game is just the engine because almost every single graphic is new.

You guys should feel proud about it, this is not a Mod anymore, it looks like a new game

Me and two of my older siblings are battling in Middle Earth today, pretty soon actually (the beta obviously). I've already predicted that I'll win because I'm the only one who ever thinks about counter-strategy, so they're always picking the worst possible counter-civ for my civ.

Just saw Desolation of Smaug. Not nearly as good as the LOTR trilogy, but the new Hobbit films are more "adventure" than an "epic". Still enjoyed it though.

Is it just me or does the Rhun TC and that other building the the left of it seem a bit too small? That spearman would hit his head on the wall if he tried to use that door haha.

Exactly!!! You all have done great work. Without passion and great skill something like this could never happen.

I bought an extra disk set, so that if something happens I have a backup. To anyone looking, check Walmart in the electronics section by the bargain computer games.

There are sooo many units, haha. Just Arnor alone has six types of infantry available (not counting spearman). And there are several units that aren't implemented yet, like Alliance Units, stone trolls, wainriders, all the wonder units, etc. Even a rough balancing requires a lot of work.

Still plugging away though.

Anything I can do to help Matt? I know we are done with graphics (I think?) but if there is anything else nobody is working on right now let me know. Unless its code (I only know Visual Basic. Im a "baby" programmer). If slp editing is jsut using the modpack maker I can do that.

Also are we keeping the Harad and Rhun wonders? They dont really match the current buidlings so I was wondering.

Thirdly, is there a testing version of the next release? Or has nothing been put in?

There's not a whole lot to do. The unfortunate nature of modding AoK means that all the data editing has to go through one person, one file, which creates a log jam. I'd say 85% of the gameplay stuff has been added, and of course then there is the editor stuff which is largely still to be implemented. All the heroes too for the editor, some of which have original graphics which also need to be added. It's just a lot of hours and only one Pulkit to go around.

All the graphics are done, basically all the slps made. As much as I sometimes want to add more stuff, the things I would add at this point are so trivial it's not worth it. In the meantime, I'm playing dozens of games with the aegis cheat on, testing everything. Otherwise, I don't have much to do either.

Wonders don't usually match the build sets, which is what makes them unique and impressive. Harad and Rhun will keep their current wonders as they are the closest to possible (realistic) monuments for these realms.

@Matt: how about without aegis?! We need to test the build/research times too!

Also, perhaps you or someone can look through the RMS and tweak/improve/redo given the new terrains. I remember Jatayu suggested that a lot could be improved in the RM scripts we have.

There is no test build yet. As soon as we have one ready, we'll get you and everyone else as playtesters to test the shit out of it!

If Arnor alone has 6 different units just in infantry, r we goina get 1000 pop. options like in the Chivalry conversion?
