This is a full scale total conversion.
Things I really really like:

Sound changes
New Maps
The AI works ( not well but its okay )
AI resignation messages ( lol )
etc.

make it very fun for single player/multi player games, not only just for scenario design. Fantastic.

However for MP I would recommend balance the game a little. Isengard is the most glaring problem, as they have practically no good units until the last age, before that they have to do with the generic swordsman/archer line. IMO make the techs a little faster, like that of age of chivalry. This is a problem with most civs. They get practically nothing useful in the feudal age, which can make them vulnerable while teching.

Btw you encouraged me to see all the LOTR movies again!

Many units in the scenario editor are invisible for certain/most directions, including the Ox. Also, the names are incorrect on certain units. Hopefully this can be patched or something, no rush though, you deserve a brake!

Shouldn't be so, RPGaming. Are you sure you have the C Patch installed?

To reiterate, this mod replaces the file empires2_x1_p1.dat, which means it assumes you have the cpatch installed. If you are playing without the patch, back up your empires2_x1.dat in the Data folder and rename empires2_x1_p1.dat to empires2_x1.dat, and it will work. That is what I did. Otherwise it will use the original data file and thus have missing frames, weird animations, etc.

Jatayu, thanks for the inputs.

I agree, ToME really only picks up in the Castle and Imperial Ages. We did want to beef up Feudal Age, but that would have screwed up the AI badly. We only have but 1 person with good AI knowledge here, and he's totally dedicated to working on Chivalry right now!

About the C-patch trick, are you saying this works without the C-patch then? If so, I could simply add a check in the installer that replaces whatever dat file is available, instead of requiring the c-patch installed.

Hey, if you want I can start working on an AI for this, I've made some AIs before ( It'll take a while though ).

Yes it works without the c patch, just as I said.
What you can do is replace both files by default.

Just to confirm, the c-patch only adds the empires2_x1_p1.dat and nothing else? (I know it adds gamedata_x1_p1.drs, but I don't use that file for ToME at all).

This coverage isn't as fantastic as the news on AoKH frontpage, but it is awesome nonetheless:

ToME on Kotaku, a Gawker sister-site, GameSource in Italy, Facepunch (whatever that is!), and Polygamia in Poland.

Also noticed some guys sharing on Facebook.

Just think, you guys could have waited just 8 more days and released it to everybody for a Christmas present! (But it would've been pretty mean...)

Anyway, I was just wondering (and I don't want to be a nuisance here, it's just something I was wondering about) if this can be installed parallel to AoK:TC like Age of Chivalry can or if that possibility is coming in an update later on?

Again, the mod is great and I'm really having fun trying to figure out new strategies with all of the different civs. Good luck with the future of this mod guys!

It can be installed seperately, I already did it (now my 6th installation of AoK ).

Easy! Steps:
1. Uninstall ToME.
2. Make a copy of the whole AoK folder. Rename one to something like "AoK - Original", the other to "AoK - ToME".
3. Install ToME on one of these two AoK folders.

Create shortcuts on the desktop as needed. You now have both the original AoK and ToME in parallel!

I have a question, how are siege towers supposed to be used and what sort of strategies can you use with them? Are they just a method of transportation for troops under heavy arrow fire?

hmm that could be a good use for them and they can effectively get half the units they are transporting over a wall so they can be used for infantry raiding through walls. if they could garrison villagers they could be used to get a villager across enemy walls and build up some buildings.

One/two tries more, else I'll mail you the details to fill in the fields, Matt. You can go ahead and submit.

Why yes, yes it is! Is it possible for you or panel to help me fix the HTML formatting errors (too much white space above the table, example)? I'm sure CSS styles are prohibited.
Isengard is the most glaring problem, as they have practically no good units until the last age, before that they have to do with the generic swordsman/archer line.
I feel that is balanced by Isengard's cheap techs, enhanced resource gathering and such civ bonuses. Plus the early scouting advantage with a Spearman as scout (can take down enemy scouts) and the automagic Crebain scout birds. Do you reckon?

Check out den cekke's recorded game, everyone. A nice relaxed exploration of the mod, since all the players were new to ToME, except near the end where den goes crazy with Balrogs, death-defying Orcs (watch out for the green flames), and Spiders!

It's a cool game but it's a mystery to me why the Harad player went for riders straight away rather than knights. Knights have extra attack for Harad and instead he wasted the gold on the weaker cavalry. He was throwing away Harad's bonus. Another thing that struck me strange is Rohan's combination of cavalry and skirmishers, I can understand that skirmishers are cheap in contrast to expensive cavalry creating a contrast, but the fact that cavalry are awesome against archers negates the skirmisher's usefulness, being good against archers...

As for Dol Guldur... Oh man .

Woah, a Good Guy Greg just did a Youtube feature for ToME!

Although his install is corrupted None of the graphics show up and much of the Tech Tree is incorrect. Nevertheless, really honoured to have this sort of interest and help in publicity.

You guys should work with GameRanger to get 'Tales of Middle Earth' recognized as its 'own game' like 'Age of Chivalry' did. This would allow us to have Conquerors and ToME installed simultaneously and would make for easier hosting on GR.

so yeah. the installer goes straight to the normal installation location. any chance you could put up a manual installation version (same deal, it just doesn't have the installer) so I can install it in a non-standard location? (IE, in a different drive)
