Hockeysam, when's a good time to catch you on Skype? Would like to discuss the campaigns and brainstorm a little.

Not in the 0.6 release. There all lines go just straight to the right without any change. Did you remove the "units owned" resource storage?

How much do you know about the William Wallace learn to play menu? Is it the same as the other menus? Can the scenario markers be moved?

The William Walace campaign is the most hard coded of them all but I know that its features can be changed and removed by editing the exe file. So yeah the scenario markers can be removed through hex editing.

As Jan said, Wallace is the most (and actually, the only) hardcoded campaign, and no, not only Wallace scenario markers are hardcoded, there's still many hardcoded stuff in that. I think that it would be much better for your mod to ADD a new campaign rather than replacing one. If you want to learn how to add one, just add me on Skype, or wait until me or 1302 write a tutorial about that.

I've already replaced them before, it's not so bad if you use the conquerors cpx's. I have given up the idea of using the Wallace slot, because on our menu the ToME logo fits nicely there anyway.

I'll fiddle with the conquerors campaigns.

But, well, since you are into replacing one TC campaign, go ahead and good luck!

I guess in the future it would be possible, but drumming up 30+ scenarios in the next few months would be rather unlikely

Most likely would need to ask permit from players who have already made lotr scenarios for the mod.

You should be able to find a lot of maps when you search from the Blacksmith.

I think that Matt and I are planning on designing a few scenarios and just including them on the initial release, but I'm sure we'll consider it for a later build(s)!

Currently we are looking to have 4-5 stand alone scenarios. I plan to replace the Battles of the Conquerors cpx with these. I think that's more than enough to get everyone started. There's no limit on what can be made after it is released.

To anyone offering scenario design help:

Thanks, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but it's probably not as simple as you might think. The scenarios have to be about things representative of the period, scope, and flavor of the mod, which means they aren't whatever you feel like making, but are chosen from a select list of ideas. They also need to be more game play oriented, focusing on showing off the mod's game play than on rpg tricks or trigger systems. They have to be designed on a schedule, with collaboration from the ToME team. I've got to implement them onto the campaign menu and such as well. Finally, the scenario has to be designed with the next version of ToME and may require some updating as bugs are fixed, stats are adjusted, etc. And of course these are very by the lore scenarios, so a solid background in Tolkien is a must too.

If it sounds a little constricting, it's because it is. The good news is once we release the mod, the editor will be perfectly functional and you are all going to be able to make whatever scenarios you wish. However, I thought I should let everyone know what exactly they are volunteering for, lol.

As for the scenarios themselves, I've worked out a tentative list with Hockeysam. Once Pulkit's feedback is incorporated into it, we can discuss them here, like everything else we've done.

I'll gladly help with scenarios. As you know I have a mithril-strong knowledge of Tolkien lore, so that shouldn't be a problem. Anyone willing to make voice clips?

How many scenarios?

Looking at five scenarios right now. I want to do 1 or 2, with hockeysam doing 2-3. I dunno if Pulpit will have any time to do some designing. I hadn't planned on asking for any more contributors, but maybe once we get going on them we'll need some more hands on deck. I'll keep everyone who offered in mind.

Voice acting by amateurs detracts from a scenario rather than adding. If some decent voice actors were available I'd love to use them, I'd probably pay them for their efforts. But poor quality voice acting is just not worth using.

Question for you guys:

There's currently an issue in the mod where the achievements timeline doesn't show correctly. All the other achievements and stats work fine. Pulkit's tried everything, no luck.

The question is, does anyone think this is a terribly crippling bug? Fixing it would require remaking the entire data file. If we ignore it, the data file is almost done. So the question, worth the extra effort/wait or not to you guys?

This is something that should be done now, if we do it. Any scenarios designed might otherwise be incompatible with a new dat file.

IMO you should fix that in a update and take avail to remake all scenarios... It's rather than remake everything rushed now.
