The Portuguese Civ Mod III is the third installment of the Portuguese Civ Mod, and it adds 13 new civilizations on the top of the original game and new gameplay features!

What’s new?

New civilizations
Besides of the original 5 new civilizations of PCM II (Portuguese, Aragonese, Moors and Berbers), the Portuguese Civ Mod III brings 12 new civilizations, all of them with new and unique bonuses and units: Tupis, Dutch, Swahilis, Italians, Indians, Galicians, Indonesians, Leonese, Abyssinians, Shona, Burgundians and Kongolese!

Rare Resources
A new gameplay feature for Real World Maps! Every Real World Map now has 3 distinct rare resources, which can grant resource trickles once captured and unique bonuses, upon the creation of Rare Resource Traders!

New Iberian Buildingset
All Iberian civilizations now use a new and more accurate buildingset made by Carcoma, from AoKH!

New Technology Tree
Portuguese Civ Mod III includes a revamped Technology Tree, powered by Janworks’ Tech Tree Patch, which displays information about every new unit and buildings included in PCM!

Integration with UserPatch 1.5
The Portuguese Civ Mod III is built upon the latest version of the UserPatch, ensuring the best Single Player and Multiplayer experience possible!

Improved AI
The AI can now build wonders and, in water maps, train warships and build sea buildings.

@Dr Roach: For balancing purposes. Dutch can get a nearly unlimited supply of gold from Imperial Age on, if they are played correctly, so, I cut some upgrades from them in order to balance that.

@danielpieira: So I tried a few test games (on Mongolia maps :P ), and it is absolutely astounding. The graphics and modding are amazing, as is your use of the coding slots of the Trade Workshop and the "unlocked" fifth resource that had been left fallow by the Enssemble designers and programmers. The Tupi, Indonesian, and Iberian building sets are stellar. Also, even better, all of the custom scenarios I had made or started in PCM2 work flawlessly when plugged into three. Bravo on this one!

If you do a PCM4, or a major expansion, at least, two suggested new Civ's you might want to consider:

Since I notice you have many of the major of Portuguese colonialism covered by new Civ's already (the Tupis for Brazil, the Swahilis for Mozambique, and the Indonesians for Timor Leste), might I also suggest the possibility of the Kongo Civ (for Angola) and either/or the Wulou or Fula Civ's for Guinea-Bisseau. Just some ideas to consider for the future.

Hello everybody!

I’m glad to announce that the first patch to Portuguese Civ Mod III has been released!

This update includes the latest version of the Extended Triggers Patch, which improves the scenario designing experience by adding three new effects into the triggers system: Display Parsed Instructions, Send Parsed Chat and Parse Object Name.

Besides of that, this patch fixes critical bugs that would cause Naffatuns to crash the game when attempting to attack ground and make the Ship of The Line unit to be untrainable, and it also fixes some balancing issues, by removing Heresy and Bloodlines from Indians and enabling Imperial Onager and Imperial Scorpion for the Celts.

On the top of that, the PCM III Wiki has been officially released, and now it can be accessed through the Links and Resources section in the PCM III menu and also by clicking here! Of course, it’s still a work in progress, all help is welcome! Many thanks to snortington for creating and maintaining most of the articles!

Last but not least, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Don’t forget that there is a special Christmas random map waiting for you all!

In fact, I actually considered the Kongolese for PCM III, but, sadly, I couldn't find the graphics that would be needed to make such civ... Maybe in a future patch, who knows

Page looks great very easy to navigate.

Might I suggest adding a banner with changing ingame pics like in the chivalry page?

You should replace the crappy alt alt unit with a new one.It looks bad even for me.

I take it you have never heard of "banter text" in code?

SgtMarkIV once had a racist joke about the similarity of a person with higher melanin and a in-game entity that was set on fire. Ensemble Studios had animation text file refer to a "Jimmy the wonderful male prostitute" as a non existent model name under a visualnone identifier. Someone did this "stop(); // Hammertime!" and much like ES I have "visualnone mynameisjeff" codes littered throughout ExpMod v2.0 anim code.

Typically "banter code" is just there for humorous measure, whether as an in-joke, or just general humor, and can be usally spotted by the "//" signifier beforehand (or 'Commenting" it out)

So in other words: Obviously, John Cena is NOT in the mod, and you are: asking a dumb question, and thinking too deeply into banter code.

Well, not directly, but, there are some... references, so to speak

During a single player game, press enter, and, after the chatbox shows up, type and his name is in the chatbox, press enter, and then try to create and use monks to convert units, and you'll have a surprise!

And, yes, what you saw was an actual part of the code.

Hello everyone!

To all of those who have been experiencing issues with the PCM III installer and Avira Antivirus and/or Google Chrome:
I have sent the PCM III files that were being detected as false positives to the Avira website, so, they should not be detected as malicious files anymore and, therefore, Avira AV users should not have any problems with the PCM III installer anymore!

After a really long wait, I’m glad to announce the release of the first out-of-beta release of Portuguese Civ Mod III!

This patch adds an all-new Abyssinian civilization to the mod, with unique bonuses and gameplay! Their full outline can be seen at our official website and at the Civilization Outlines document, which is included in the mod.

Another new feature introduced in this patch is the native integration with the UserPatch 1.5 weather effects, through the two new “Starting Resources” options: “Standard (Weather)” and “Standard (Night)”. The former will apply to the match one of the three weather visual effects supported by UP 1.5: rain, snow or thunderstorm; and the latter will apply a nightly effect to the match, similar to the one used in the old Night Mode RMs!

Some graphical updates are included in this patch, too! The Otomi Warrior Mesoamerican Trade Workshop unit now use new graphics, made by Achesun, and the Mahout Lancer now uses graphics from Age of Empires II: Rise of The Rajas!

Last but not least, many bugs and balance issues have been fixed! Most notably, Renaissance Age upgrades have been added to all naval unique units, Heroes and Royal Guards now follow gather points, the Tech Tree displays information about all of the unit types and the game now displays a warning message when the build limit of a unit is reached.

I've seen some videos about your mod,it's pretty good!So many things added,it gives a whole new experience to the game.
I laughed out loud with the Rede Globo's jingle sounds in the footbal cannon,only brazilians would understand that reference kkkkk

Btw,how did you managed to extract the Rise of Nation's Graphics for your rare resources?I find this gameplay feature really interesting,kinda like a mix between relics and the artifacts in AOE1.I would love to have the slps for the rare resources,including ones I've not seen you using it,like Sulphur.

BTW,how did you alter the resurces' interface to make the experience resoure been seen correctly?I was using UP 1.5 before,and the numbers were wierdly placed with the ore display,I wished to create a new Interface to make it look nice,didn't know how to put in the game yet

Also,Did you see our fellow brazilian,Tahattus' Wars of Libery mod for AOE3?

Actually, isn't danielpereira a part of the development team for that mod? If my memory isn't mistaken, he made an un-hardcode patch for that game.

First of all, thanks for the comment and the kind words, I'm glad you liked the mod! And I'm also glad you got that reference xD

Regarding the rare resource graphics, they are stored as tga files in one of RoN's art folders. Feel free to extract the slps from the PCM .drs ^^ Concerning the other rare resources, I chose to only add those eight, because they were the only ones which would look actually good after converting their graphics to the 256 colour palette AoK uses...

Regarding the 5th resource feature, yes, I had to change the interfaces manually. Feel free to use the PCM interfaces as a base for 5-resource interfaces, in case you need that ^^

About the WoL mod, as Dr Roach said, I'm one of its team members

I suspected that you knew about WoL because of the Tupi Civ,didn't know you were part of the team.To work in two big projects,I'm really impressed!

Hi Daniel! Been a long time! I received your slps for some of the unique units before. Wondering if you could send me the unique resource slps as well? I would like to see if I can use them in my own game if possible; I can't seem to open the .drs files with Turtlepack to get them out on my own unfortunately.I will incorporate them and credit you of course.

Good morning Daniel! Congratulations on the recent release of your mod, I am a huge fan. I was wondering if you were still looking for someone to assist in designing a few custom campaigns?

Obviously you want a Portuguese campaign, did you have any specific figures or time periods associated with that?

Otherwise with your current patch I'm looking at a campaign detailing the fall of Cordoba (I had tried in an earlier version but the naval AI was kinda funky but it looks like this has been resolved).
