The Portuguese Civ Mod III is the third installment of the Portuguese Civ Mod, and it adds 13 new civilizations on the top of the original game and new gameplay features!

Whatís new?

New civilizations
Besides of the original 5 new civilizations of PCM II (Portuguese, Aragonese, Moors and Berbers), the Portuguese Civ Mod III brings 12 new civilizations, all of them with new and unique bonuses and units: Tupis, Dutch, Swahilis, Italians, Indians, Galicians, Indonesians, Leonese, Abyssinians, Shona, Burgundians and Kongolese!

Rare Resources
A new gameplay feature for Real World Maps! Every Real World Map now has 3 distinct rare resources, which can grant resource trickles once captured and unique bonuses, upon the creation of Rare Resource Traders!

New Iberian Buildingset
All Iberian civilizations now use a new and more accurate buildingset made by Carcoma, from AoKH!

New Technology Tree
Portuguese Civ Mod III includes a revamped Technology Tree, powered by Janworksí Tech Tree Patch, which displays information about every new unit and buildings included in PCM!

Integration with UserPatch 1.5
The Portuguese Civ Mod III is built upon the latest version of the UserPatch, ensuring the best Single Player and Multiplayer experience possible!

Improved AI
The AI can now build wonders and, in water maps, train warships and build sea buildings.

Iím glad to announce that the third patch for Portuguese Civ Mod III has been released!

This update fixes all of the balance issues and gameplay bugs that have been reported and found since the release of PCM III 3.0.

Among the implemented fixes, itís worth to mention that Ship of The Line sails now change according to the buildingset, the stats for the Winged Hussar, Rocket Archer and Nihang mercenaries have been adjusted and the Mayan Wonder Power, which was found to be highly exploitable in multiplayer games, now makes the player get +20 gold per trained unit.
Besides of that, all packed buildings now use new graphics made by Mishosan, instead of the placeholder packed Trebuchet graphic used in previous patches.

A full list of all of the changes and balance fixes can be found in the changelog, which is included with the patch download.

As usual, the new patch can be obtained at the AoKH Blacksmith!

@patine: Sadly, it's going to take quite a while until we see Southern African civs in PCM, if we ever see them, lol. I would need both new unit, wonder and buildingset graphics in order to start working on such civs :'(

There was someone a while ago (I can't remember his handle name) who had started a promising looking project called "Age of Africa." His new building was somewhat of a hash or jumble, but some of the base assets he'd used to build it looked quite good and usable. And I believe he had an Impi unit among others. He just previewed these things though. And then one day, he abruptly stopped posting. I even tried to prompt his thread almost a year later. I'm wondering if he ever sent those assets to anyone still around before vanishing.

Yea. I think 80% of all work ever done is lost forever due to people not caring about continuity. I'm also guilty of this. Had a huge project ten years ago not too far from finished but now it's gone forever.

@patine: Yh, I remember that mod and, in fact, I was one of its testers and I believe I still have that mod's files somewhere in my other PC.

On the other hand, besides of the fact that I would need his permission to use those graphics, I think they would still need considerable changes before I can use them in PCM...

@Mahazona: to be honest, I don't mind using "wrong" voicesets, since, sometimes, it's really hard to get a quality voiceset for a civilization... PCM still has no Aragonese or Catalan voiceset for Aragonese, or Basque voiceset for Navarrese, or a full Swahili voiceset for the Swahilis, and the list goes on, lol.

After a really long wait, Iím glad to announce that the fourth patch for Portuguese Civ Mod III has been released!

First and foremost, this patch adds the Shona as the 15th new civilization of the mod, with unique bonuses and gameplay! Their full outline can be seen at our official website and at the Civilization Outlines document, which is included in the mod.

Alongside with this addition, the African building set from Age of Empires II HD: The African Kingdoms has been implemented into the mod and will also be used by the Swahilis and the Abyssinians!

This patch also fixes the critical bug that would lead the game to crash while attempting to play the Regicide game mode. Besides of that, it also includes many balance changes to Wonder Powers and Renaissance Age gunpowder units.

Among the balance changes included in this patch, itís worth to mention that a new Renaissance Age Blacksmith technology that makes cavalry and infantry units become more resistant against gunpowder, Armor Proofing, has been added.

Regarding new civilizations, even though I have considered adding civs like Kongo, I don't know if or when I'll be able to actually add them, since there aren't graphics for the units of those civilizations around and the unit designer that made most of the new PCM II/III units has been really busy lately. I'm sorry for the trouble!

Hey everyone!

Recently, a critical bug has been found in Portuguese Civ Mod III 3.2, which would cause the Starting Resources and Age Span options to be reset in Multiplayer lobbies after changing the default value of these fields and readying up. Due to that, this hotfix has been made.

Besides of that, this hotfix two other bugs. One would cause the Shona UT, UU and SU to be shown in the Tech Tree of other civilizations and the Japanese UT to be shown in the Shona Tech Tree and the other one would make the Imperial Arbalest and Elite/Imperial Skrimisher squads show wrong icons and tooltips for the Shona. Thanks to Varun for the Tech Tree report and to HTD for the squad icon and tooltip report!

As a more technical note for recorded game analyzing tool developers, from this version on, mod version info will be stored in resource ID 198. For more information, check the Technical Notes section of the readme, which is included in the download.

As usual, the full installer for the hotfix can be obtained at the Blacksmith!

Why not contact the age of africa team and get thier finished buildings too?that project seems to be abandoned now,such a waste to see resources lost.

@Mahazona: I'm already using the buildingset from AoAK. Although the one from Age of Africa would be more accurate for Southern African civs, I don't think Dire_Wolf ever finished it and, even if he did, I would still need to make Renaissance Age graphics and graphics for other buildings unique to PCM...

PS: I'll be busy for the following weeks, so I might not be able to answer e-mails or comments here at AoKH or at the website.

Hello everyone!

I'm glad to announce that the sixth patch for the Portuguese Civ Mod III has been released!

This patch fix many of the bugs and balance issues that have been reported both at ModDB, at the mod's website and at the mod's official Discord Server. Among the balance changes that were made, it's worth to mention that two new upgrades have been added: the Imperial Champion and the Imperial Rodelero. A full list with all bug fixes and balance changes can be found at the readme, which is included in the download.

Besides of that, the Sharpshooter Trade Workshop unit now uses new graphics, which were made by Achesun!

Last but not least, the FLAGX and Relic Cart units have been restored into the .dat which might, hopefully, make it easier to create MP maps for Portuguese Civ Mod III.

The game got an error message and crash after I edit the mod with AGE.

So I guess I can not edit PCMIII with AGE anymore? I can understand this can be serve as a anti-private/stealing solution, but I am not going to steal your mod and build a published mod base on PCM, I just want to do some modification on my own computer. It is quite sad I can not modify PCM anymore.

First of all, I'm really sorry for the trouble! This actually happens because the new tech tree data which is used by the Tech Tree Patch is not saved after editing and saving the .dat with AGE. The only ways to avoid that are either re-importing the new tech tree after editing the .dat or disabling the new tech tree patch while doing many changes on the .dat in a row. I can give you more details on how to do that later, if you are still interested!

BTW, Teutons can not train Hero in the castle like other nations, is that a bug?

First of all, thanks for the kind words and for enjoying the mod!

Sadly, I don't plan to add new civilizations anytime soon. I don't have anyone to make new unit or wonder graphics for those new civilizations, since the designer who made most of the new PCM II/III units has been busy both with real life and his own mod and, besides of that, I have been pretty busy too... I'm sorry for the trouble!

Hey, everyone!

After months of wait, Iím glad to announce that PCM III 3.4, the seventh patch for Portuguese Civ Mod III, has been released!

This patch fixes a critical bug that has been found after the release 3.3, which would cause the game to crash upon playing custom scenarios in MP games. Thanks to Hartmann, from our discord server, for reporting this bug!

Besides of that, this patch also includes balance fixes and fixes for civilization bonuses and wonder powers. Among them, itís worth to mention that the Demolition Raft and the Fire Galley units, from Age of Empires II: HD have been implemented, in order to improve water balance, and a new technology for the Tavern, Mercenary Contracts, has been added.

In this patch, the Ruyter unit also got new graphics, made by Achesun!

As usual, the patch can be obtained at the AoKH Blacksmith, and the full changelog can be seen in the readme, which is included in the release!

Today is a very special day for the Portuguese Civ Mod: five years ago, at this same day, the first feature complete version of PCM, The Portuguese Civ Mod 1.0, was released at AoKH. So, I'm really glad to announce today a new release of PCM III!

In this patch, the special Christmas map of PCM has been finally made selectable at the default Random Maps list of the game, for both Single Player and Multiplayer modes! Don't forget to play it while it's still the season!

Besides of that, a new unique unit has been added to the Portuguese civilization: The Explorer, which replaces the default Scout for the Portuguese. Once the Tactics technology is researched, besides of gaining a special attack ability, like the common scout units do, the Explorers also gain the ability of building TCs at a cheaper price and faster than villagers do! Special thanks to Achesun for making the graphics for this unit!

This patch also includes many balance changes and bugfixes for reported bugs. Among those changes, it's worth to mention that Tupi villagers no longer use the Aztec voiceset, but use a proper Tupi voiceset, provided by Thermoh, from the AoE2: The American Wold mod, and a Trade Workshop technology that makes Castle Age Support Units become stronger (Diplomats) has been added. As usual, more details can be found at the patch changelog, which can be found in the readme.

Last, but not least, I would like to thank you all for following us and enjoying PCM in these five years! Without the engagement of our community, we surely wouldn't have come this far! I wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Wow! Your mod is older than many best-selling and popular computer games today AS WHOLE GAME FRANCHISES! I will definitely download and try this when I return from my sister's (where I am for Christmas).
