It's lucky Sunday once again, valiant knights, and although lucky Sunday is followed by accursed Monday, it still means we're once again going back On the Battlefield, where you can listen to Aro's long-winded commentary on the last fortnight, and this coming fortnight! I am your esteemed and modest dictator, Aro; very pleasant to meet you!
Forum Partay?! Galleray?!?! Random-Mapsay?!!??!
Last Sunday, our first forum party since the big revamp went off without a hitch, with big thanks going to the hosting talents of forumer Xingjianma. All reports indicate that it was a blast, and we're looking forward to supporting more forum parties in the future; check out the recorded games now to see who killed who, what killed what, and why they don't sell swords to kids!
As predicted last week, our Gallery is now available for the all-seeing public eye to gaze upon, including some of the nicest screenshots this side of the Castle Age! And not only has our Gallery been restored, but our Game Info section has been given a tune-up too with the addition of our new Random Maps page. Filled with tons of goodies and tips, it's sure to help any aspiring strategists out there step their game up and DESTROY that meddling red team, ONCE AND FOR ALL!!
Contest Reminders!
Remember, faithful patrons of the Age of Kings art, our Age2oon Contest is getting closer and closer to deadline, and we've already recieved some excellent submissions! Bust out your Age of Kings CD, open up MS Paint, think of a punchline and make some toons! Also running simultaneously with the Age2oon contest is the 6th Annual Screenshot Competition, hosted by Thunder77; it's open to everybody, so get those screenshots in!
Community News
As preached by minister Mashek, our immortal Blacksmith downloads database has been updated with a new screenshot option on the Submit File menu, now available for everyone's projects! This gives you the option of providing an image to accompany your project, making your description page even *more* useful for readers.
Former Blacksmith Feature administrator BrandNewCar, also known as JackalRat, has decided to resigned from staff due to time constraints. BNC's been on the Age of Kings staff roster and off since 2002, first stepping up to write the Features in place of former webmaster Thunder. The Age of Kings team is sorry to see such a talented writer leave our staff, and wish him the only best in his future ventures. If you haven't already, bid him farewell in the Town's Crier!
Also, in the Town's Crier, 'tis the year to be overtly political, parody-style; our community is holding the official 2008 AoKH elections, continuing the political fervor of the 2004 elections held last year! Will the clearly-more-experienced Arocratic Party keep control of the political office, or will parties like the overly-aggressive Basse Despotist Party, the self-rightious Morgoth Party, the morally-questionable BEER party, or the vote-distaining Let's Have Another Party Party take control of the oddly-shaped AoKH offices? Find out now and rock the vote!
But of course, we've already witnessed plenty of joy this year *without* political backlash, especially when we found out Age of Kings turned nine; by looking at our front page, I'd bet you'd think otherwise! Happy birthday to the RTS King, and may he live nine more years! (I got him a pony.)
This Coming Fortnight
What would this report be if I didn't ruin the surprise? This coming fortnight, get ready for the foundation to be laid for another major content addition, the ModPack Stable! You know that ringing in your ears? That just may be our recently-implemented Gallery getting prepared for further expansion! Also, we can't forget to mention the future of the Blacksmith Features. They're still a popular and on-going feature, and they will *not* be forgotten; look out for a new Feature tomorrow! That's all for now, my factually-accurate fellows; see you on the battlefield!
