hi merkury, you should be a bit more specific with your way of asking a question, for example with which program did you make the bitmap? However, I assume you made it for example with Photoshop, then the problem is one of the colour-palette. Only a certain set of colours work for the intro-maps, in Photoshop you should work in the "Indexed color mode" to be sure they look the way you want them, but I know that is pretty disappointing cause you cannot modify a lot in "indexed colors". If you want to be more flexible, then you should work with the Paint-Program that comes with every version of Windows.
There is also a way to do it with Photoshop in RGB-mode, but it is much more complicated (you have to save the colour-palette before, and then it's still a risky thing, but I have to look up how that works in detail in my "Photoshop-Bible" by McClelland; good book by the way).
