Topic Subject:How many times do you playtest your map?

I'm doing this as inspiration to get around to completing my map. I've playtested it so far 56 times, and this just the opening cut-scene, its kinda weird.. I'm on 160/170 triggers for a opening set of scenes and haven't got around to the playable bit yet :}.

Sigh... BNC, I wouldn't know for the life of me. I believe I've playtested ATW more than 500 times. Then again, maybe even more... I dunno.

The only thing I have tested so far was my day and night thing. Beginning cut scene and some other things. More then 60 times. And I still have to test A lot more.
Yuri Ninja, your spanish is terrible don´t use altavista to translate! "Yo testeo/pruebo/juego mi escenario cada 50 desencadenadores"

I playtest until I know all the triggers made so far work (keep a checklist)... Then a make some 15 or until I get to a new objective or something, then I go to the checklist again...
But once in a while I play it just to see if I can find flaws in map design or if it gives me ideas!

I tested Blacksun 1 about 6 times, though I did not test it after thefinal changes were made. Thankfully they seem to work or people just don't know what it's supposed to look leik. Balcksun 2 was tested about 4 times and again i did not test after making the final changes, that's why the last part didn't have strong enough enenmies.
You want fries with that?

For your cut-scene Ingo gave you the best advice.

For the "playable bit" it is sometimes more important how you play test, than how often. You have to leave the path, you have to imagine how the player will react when you confont him with difficulties of any kind. Can he get around? Take Robin Hood Lite, first scenario. I leave Jerusalem, see a tower and a road leading south-west. I think boys keep left, without enemy contact to victory. Short cut in Swallowed Realm Ch. III. I think, not again the bowmen, lets go north on this side of the river. Bug in RofDM, I think the longer the way/time the more food the guards eat, so I take a path, which has the overall shortest distance. What I mean is, you should not concentrate only on how you want the triggers to work in a certain order, play any order you give to the player.

IMHO this is the key. You have to playtest your scenario not the way you want it to be played but how the player might play it. Or to say it in short: You've to try to kill your scenario!
You've to try to cheat, to avoid fighting and to do anything that might crash, kill, smash, beat,... your scenario.
If your scenario works properly in all of these cases then it's ok.

I feel your pain.
Seriously; there is no end to it, but at some point you must let your playtester's feedback be your guide. Revisit those areas, where the playtester (who is not yourself), has mentioned for possible improvement. Once you have done all you can do to please them, move on to completion.

i cant say hoany times i playest..i mean......every few major triggers i playtetst it to make sure everything is glitch free and works like i want it to...not to mention constant maro polo visits to see if everything stays where i want it to...the game never seems really appealing to me becaue i know eerything and played it already 5000000000000000000000000000000 times.........
