Hi TormakSaber,
Thanks ..again … Yeah, actually – lol, I really did try that too – a few times… and it didn’t make any difference either.
So – I really just give up on seeing it work as originally envisioned: and the more I think about it – the more I at least like the explanation offered by AnastasiaKafka – that it’s something to do with the properties of the Wonders themselves …
I haven’t tried yet – but I can easily see setting up the exact same things only using something like, the Monastery as opposed to Wonder(s) – and it would work like a Swiss watch.
Will try sometime in the near future – just to see Honestly – you and probably a lot of mappers/designers out there will be able to relate to this in some way: but what this was, is I’d finished the map really and that idea was one of those ‘last minute, final touches’ that just took hold of me somehow. So, I thought ok – I’ll try it. When it just wouldn’t work, I tried harder and harder – lol … gosh …
But honestly, the idea was a little ‘self-refuting’ anyway…
I mean – the whole Point of this ‘Map’ and Scenario, hinges on those “Wonders/Monuments” Not being destroyed…
Really, I just want them to remain on the map because they’re really pretty as well – lol “A quick Question, what kind of architecture [d]o your Civs have? If its british and the like, you could get away with putting some Cathedrals together, and increase their HP, then use those. That way, they don't changte when someone gets near.” Interesting idea …
Well – just in event anyone’s curious about this aspect, this is the essence of it all. It’s of course a fictional Scenario, which puts the Byzantine Imperial Armies (two Human Player Byzantine Armies) – in France, pitted against Four Frankish Armies plus one small Frankish Garrison Defense Force – the latter being located inside a fortified village.
The idea is that it’s a Punitive strike against the Franks in retribution for the Frankish-led or sponsored Crusades which were stopped at the walls of Constantinople.
In the center of the village (called, Gourlion de Chival), is an important Frankish Cathedral, the Chappell de Chival – which is made up of actually 4 Monuments (now) – 3 in-line and one at the front-center – all of which together form the Large Chappell de Chival.
The Byzantines are tasked to both Destroy the Frankish forces on the Muse River (part of which passes in front of the village of Gourlion de Chival) – and to Capture the Chappell de Chival intact, the keys of which, are to be handed over to the Patriarch of Constantinople at war’s end.
Under pain of death, “No harm is to come to the holy Cathedral.”
So that’s basically it … Pretty straightforward, I suppose.
And I had tried make it so that Once the Byzantines had captured the Cathedral, any Franks remaining would try to destroy it rather than see it fall into Byzantine hands – thus, forcing a ‘race’ to stop the destruction of the ‘Chappell’ or lose the “war” if it would be destroyed.
I just wasn’t able to get it to work… Fooey! Huh?
But really, It’s so freaking pretty! I’d as soon it not be destroyed at all, and just remain at center field throughout. Using the Monument instead of the Wonder, will at least make whomever controls the village of Gourlion de Chival the “owner” of the ‘Chappell,’ which will work nicely, I think – and hope!
I’m sorry I don’t follow what you mean by --- “.., you could get away with putting some Cathedrals together, and increase their HP, then use those. That way, they don't changte when someone gets near.”
They won’t change if someone gets near enough to capture them, if you increase their HP’s?
(asking not least because that’s exactly what I’ve done –aside from increasing the HP's - as-yet).
“PS. Monuments CANNOT be destroyed.”
Well, will take your word for it, to the best of my knowledge, I’ve never tried to destroy one. But then why do they have HP’s?
Seems like they must be ‘destructible’ somehow, huh? “..if I find anything else, I'll come help.”
Most generous, Tormak_, thanks much… It really is appreciated.
Need all the help I can get as you can surely see..!
