I have been looking though this forum now for about a week or so, I'm fairly new to the forum but not to map making. You may already know this, but I've seen it so many times I thought I would point it out for those who don't. If you make a timer trigger and deactivate it before it fires, if you then reactivate it, the count down on the time has not been reset it simply continues from the point it was stopped. So you will see that the timer trigger only gets paused when deactivating and not reset unless it is allowed to fire. An example of this is here. http://aok.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/aokcgi/display.cgi?action=ct&f=4,32404,0,10 You will see that if the weapon upgrade spell is used several times it could (but not always) end up reducing your standard attack over "time". No pun intended.
Maybe I should post this little thingy too: I do not know if anyone else has noticed this, but you can delete arrows, scorpion bolts, trebushet rocks and mongonel rocks with triggers. If you have a looping trigger that kills a player's units set to an area, all of the mentioned things of that player will disappear when flying through the area. It does not work always though. Sometimes arrows or scorpion bolts manage to slip through the area and hit their target.

Yes well done for pointing that out White wolf, actually the objects mentioned by you are all counted as units by the cpu, and you should remember this when doing object in area triggers. You will see this trick put to great use in Sabato Returns. And YOU may have noticed it in Sabato the Witch. BTW you didn't answer my email asking if you wanted to play test Sabato Returns.
Sorry, I have several e-mail accounts and I did not recieve the letter yet. And of course I would playtest it! It would be an honour for me! Please send it to agor@mail.raid.ru

Ok thanks White Wolf. I have got all the results in now and I'm eager to post it, but I would like you to reveiw it. You did Sabato the Witch (Great job as well) and I think this one's going to blow you away.

You can also convert those objects and make them float in midair.

frogdude, The quote refers to the link read this (you posted it) and you will understand the flaw in your triggers, it all depends on when the timer trigger is disabled. If you later reactivate this triggers it will fire sooner than expected, therefore you will see that it could reduce your standard attack by firing one to many times before its deactivated. If you only use it once there will be no problem. DM, I didn't know that, and it would be quite difficult. Well done though! This post should be renamed "strange but true"

The way I set up the triggers, it would appear that the timer trigger fires right before it is disabled, which would mean it has a whole second left. I'll have to set up a test for that. Although if there was a limited number of such items, you could have a different set of triggers for each item. Wouldn't be that much extra work, unless there were a LOT of them.
I've actually already discovered that myself. Can't really think of a use for it, but somebody eventually will.

Ok DM, you said convert not change ownership with triggers. When someone says convert I presume they mean with monks! And I knew you could change the ownership, I've used this same thing to make magical effects in a scenario. And you can use the "KILL" object to protect a building from missile attacks as well.
I did notice this while attempting to create an attack system for a villager, where the problem you posed occurred, and also with some additional twists that I didn't understand.
Still, now you have me thinking about how it could be exploited for a desired effect.
