I had an idea (one that everyone else probably thought of first) to start with a villager, and let the player go select what kind of unit they want to play as. I then decided to expand on this idea...
My example allows the player to change weapon and mount/dismount from horseback whenever they want.
I advise that you have a look at the README.txt included in the zip file as it explains how to change weapons and how to mount/dismount from your horse.
The immobile units ai is not necessary, it is included for an extra bit I added to show my friend how to do it. It's nothing special but if you want to see, head south from your home and speak to the berserk
I don't know if this has been done before, but I hope I have done something original for once

I played a Zone scenario for AoK that had this a couple times, but it's a good and underused idea.
