I have had a new idea(IMO)
if you dont want the player cheating(robin hood), and your objective is 1500 gold, what do you do?
ANSWER:
for each unit of gold you earn, you earn too a piece of wood, so if the player have only 1000 gold, and no wood, he lose!
what do you think about?

Nice, it's been done just with food overflow or whatever for RPGS, but I don't think anyone has bothered to think about this, it's just so obvious yet unobvious.

To make it entirely cheat proof, make the player only earn 1 piece of wood for every time he earns any amount of gold, not a piece of wood for every gold piece. That way, the wood will never reach 1000 and you can put another trigger killing the player if Lumberjack is typed in.

Nice one reich. I'm always looking at new ways of disabling cheats and will look at your idea further, thanks

I use accumulate attribute 1000 to detect cheats and disable these with an accumulate attribute of 499(499 so the 1000 doesn't trigger if the player buys large amounts at the market), and chain them up to several thousands. In my latest design I've disabled all cheats, even I R Winner will have a negative effect

I thought this was common sense

Nice one, reich.

I think you can make the game crash on a Declare Victory condition if you do the right stuff, but I don't really care. If the player wants to ruin their expeiernce of the game, it's cool by me. The only cheat blocker was in Blacksun 1, just to annoy everyone who wanted to cheat to get out of the city without figuring out how.

You want fries with that?

Yeah Jerk, I think I found that out a few months after I started messing with the editor. Those were the times when I had some creativity but no map-design skills

Great idea reich!

I think all the torpedo cheats did not work in Tannenbuerg, I am still curious at how it was done...

How do you create a trigger so you get one wood for one gold?

(I must be missing something obvious...)

Umm, hmm, yeah...

Good point!

How do you do it?

Edit: Actually if you give the player a piece of wood every time he earns gold (non B&D), it is pretty easy.

So then he adds wood before giving him self the gold cheat right? There by ruining the system?

i "talked" with philip by msn and we ended in a conclusion.
there can be 2 ways ok disabling the "lumberjack thing"

PHILIP WAY:
you just detect when he gains 1000 wood and tribute it away.

MY WAY:
you have a ramdom trigger activating 1 of 3 possible "second part of the chain"

active wood, food or stone, 33%(low) of getting it.

I agree, it's their problem if they want to do that.

Fairly easy. Simply put a unit at the very edge of the map, unable to move anywhere or be accessed, and make the player lose if that unit is destroyed, as the only way that would happen is if Torpedo is used.

Yeah, that is easy.
I am talking about them disabled. That is, when I entered a torpedo cheat into the chat box, nothing happened. There was no chat message, and no deaths at all. I tried it with various players, but to no avail.

Wouldn't AI be a better alternative, if you want to make the entire scenario cheat-proof?

Someone could use Lumberjack code twice and then Robin Hood twice.

it wont be wood forever, with a ramdom event trigger, select 1 of 3 possible resources
