1. I'm having some trouble with the name action. It seems as though it is only possible to name units that exist on the map before the game is started, but I need to have a unit created and then name it.
2. I need to have one unit removed and another placed in the exact place that the one was removed. This needs to be able to happen anywhere on the map, not just in a designated area. If it helps, I'm trying to make it so that priests can use a sort of magic in that, when they convert a unit, it changes into another type of unit.

First question: I wish I knew how to do that too. There are a few campaigns where that happens, but I have never been able to figure out how they did it.

Second question: Um...the only way to do that is to set literally hundreds of triggers covering the entire map with remove object/create object type triggers. It was discussed in an earlier thread, and it came to the conclusion that it couldn't be done because that amount of triggers would crash the game once it started. Unless, though, you confined the unit to be converted to a specific area, then it might be possible.

Dang. Well, this creates more than just one problem for me. Thanks for helping. I wish this scenario editor was a little less restrictive. It should have an equation or value evaluator so that it could know the coordinates of a unit. But, what good does it do to complain. I think I know how the campaigns accomplished my first question, if you're talking about the official campaigns. It's possible to create heroes in the scenario editor, so that is all they need. If only there were a trigger to instantaneously move an object from one place to another...

It is impossible, completely impossible, to name a unit that is not on the map to start with without resorting to hex-editing.

Campaigns that make 'created units' have custom names are using illusions. These could include tasking a unit from a transport ship, where it was hidden, to an area while it is hidden by the fog of war, or any number of similar tricks.

Be creative, and you'll find a way.
