I have a problem. There is a unit La hire (player1) which is your playable unit. Later in the scenario a monk (player 3) joins you.

The idea is that this monk (player 3) will be tasked to follow La hire, but it may not heal la hire under no circumstances. The monk stays player 3 and is not changed to your player number.
How can I make this possible?

Keep note this monk is an ally to La hire (player 1)

Thanks in advance

Only possibility afaik is to make the monk himself an enemy to p1 (but make p1 allied to the monk). Because La Hire is a hero the monk cannot convert him, and will follow him. If the player has other units, also, block Dark Age for the monk, so he cannot convert.

I tried this. What happens now is that the monk is not following the la hire but just stays on the spot. As it tries to convert, as this is the only way a monk can attack, but since the heroes cant be convert it is stuck.
How can i fix this? As it isnt following my unit

Can you have the monk carry a relic? Otherwise, you might try having the positions be neutral (instead of allied, or enemy).

A monk carrying a relic and tasked at an object will not respond, either, unfortunately.

You'll have to create new unit via data editing and just give it the graphics of a monk but not any of its abilities.

I thought not responding was the goal? -Or do you mean it will not task to follow the unit?

Still, I would try the neutral setting.

It will not follow the unit if it's carrying a relic.

I first discovered this ages ago when playing normal random maps and the like - if you accidentally right-click a unit, building, tree, or other object that is not a monastery when you have a monk with relic selected, the monk will simply stop walking. The game will only allow him to be tasked to normal terrain or a monastery. It's rather weird.

@ Ana

My goal is very simple, but hard to achieve.
I have a monk of player 3 and a la hire owned by player 1.
Now i want the monk to be tasked with a task object to la hire, but the monk may not heal la hire.
How can i make this possible?

So tasking a monk to a unit while it doesnt heal when tasking a monk to a unit. Make some sense?

the easiest and most straightforward method, would be to use a program such as Genied2, and modify a hero that you will never use, or a unit like the Genitour, and give him the name, and graphics of a monk. Make him do 0 damage and you should be good to go.

It's work good, but it's also include changing .dat files, which some people don't want to do.

Well that is interesting. I have looked in GeniedAdvanced at the monk specifications. But i couldnt find something like damage. Btw, what attribute in Genied of a monk says that it can heal? or how much it heals? or whether it can heal? If you can tell this, i can put this to 0 and then it wont heal anymore. Thats right is it?

Another thing. If i set the movement speed to 0 the monk will not move right? So even if i try tasking the monk to la hire it still wont move right? Or will it be stuck in one frame? These are quite some interesting, but difficult questions i cant seem to find an answer to. So if you can help, im most appreciate the help you can offer

Hello.

Well the way doomsdaydave11 told would work.

I've been testing this following tactic to achieve it:
I map copied a unit called "Monk with a Japanese Relic" from a "New units and objects template" by Enrique Orduno.

What this monk is good for, is that it is carrying a relic but it still looks like a monk that isn't carrying one. So because it is carrying a relic, it can't heal any units.

But the problem with this method comes when you should task the monk to La Hire. Because of the relic the monk doesn't move to any units you task it, it just stands still. I have tried tasking and patrolling the monk to a La Hire, neither way doesn't work. Tasking or patrolling it into a square of terrain works, but I can't seem to able to task it to a unit.

So if someone knows how to task this Monk with a Japanese Relic to a unit, please tell how to do it.
Oh and by the way, I and WizarDBoy need this monk thing for my next project.

So with this Japanese Monk, is it possible to drop the "invisible" relic?

Yeah it is, if the monk is controlled by you, or the computer controlled monk leaves the relic to a monastery (or the monk is killed).
What happens when the relic is dropped is that the monk is converted into a normal aztec monk. However, when the monk (or any other monk) picks this beta relic again, he becomes this Japanese Monk unit again.

New units and objects template by Enrique Orduno also contains all the beta relics for map copying purposes.

You can go all out and make a new unit with GeniED...or if you don't want to do that, you might just have to compromise and settle with an allied monk that heals your unit...I mean, the La Hire hero heals himself anyway so it's not much of a difference.

I got the monk to follow the la hire, but dont heal him if he is damaged.

Here is how:

First set the diplomacy settings to the following, taken in account that this method covers two players:

Player 1 = ally to player 2
Player 2 = enemy towards player 1

Now put down a monk with japanese relic (requires a data file, that allows all hidden units) and a la hire unit. The monk with japanese relic owned by player 2, and la hire owned by player 1

Make a trigger. Create a new effect called Task object.
Set object group to: Priest
Set object list to: Monk with japanese relic
Player: player 2
Set object, the monk with japanese relic. Location: La hire
Put the trigger looped and on (you first test if it works)
So if you want it to keep following then set to loop, else put loop off.

Now you got the monk with japanese relic to follow the la hire. You can prevent your la hire from attacking the monk with japanese relic by making this trigger. This worked for me:
Create an condition: Object has target: Set object to the la hire and next object to the monk.
Now create an effect freeze object and set it to the la hire. Also loop the trigger. This way, once la hire tries to attack the monk it is frozen.

That is it! Questions?
