"Blood on The Ice"
On January 6, 793, Vikings arrived the island Lindisfarne.
There will be two FF scenarios, the first one, which serves as a prologue. Here you will be killing monks and other inhabitants on the island of Lindisfarne.
The second scenario takes place 4 months later in Norway. Now, you will be fighting against Sigvard, who in your absence has declared you dead and taken your land as well as killing your family. This calls out for revange.
This scenario is the main course, where you'll battle against numerous bands of vikings and other enemies on your way to Sigvards castle.
I've used dark_blades AI which subtracts food according to population and instead turned it into an upkeep system, where you need to raid villages for gold and other valubles to keep your soldiers in a fit condition as well to motivate them.
If you don't, the soldiers will loose both strenght and attack, and while their health returns over time, their strenght won't until you raid enough gold to pay your upkeep.
Screenshots will be up later today, I'm not at my own computer when I'm posting this. I don't know when it's going to be completed, but if you are intrested in playtesting this, just post in this thread and I'll consider you.
Other features? Well, there will be small Ulio inspired puzzles, such as sneaking into a stable and setting it on fire, killing Sigvard's horses and stopping them from being used them later in battle. Also, I've added some additional tactical elements, such as luring your enemy onto a lake where the ice is thin.
Also, it will include, hopefully, a little soundtrack of Mayhem and Bathory, with 2 1 minute segments from their songs during cutscenes. The songs will be "One Rode to Asa Bay" and "Freezing Moon".
The scenario is going to be quite linear, since making an open and free story-based FF is exhausting. But I hope that the possibilty of doing optional tasks such as those that I've already mentioned and additional things will at least create an illusion of open gameplay.
Oh yeah, this isn't really a showcase yet, I'm going to make it a bit more fancy-nancy when I get those screenshots up later today. So yeah. I hope you'll stay tuned for Blood on The Ice!
May Odin be with you!
Never before has such terror appeared in Britain as we have now suffered from a pagan race. . . .The heathens poured out the blood of saints around the altar, and trampled on the bodies of saints in the temple of God, like dung in the streets. - Alcuin of YorkYou will command the forces of Harald, and his bloodthirsty heathen soldiers from Vestfold, Norway. You will play as them as you raid and pillage the island of Lindisfarne. This is so that Harald can gather enough treasures to fight against his rival, the one legged Sigvard.
