I think it's rather sad that there is no Byzantine Campaign in the game... So.. Can someone recommend a great user-made campaign that makes you play as the Byzantines?

The closest I can think of is "In Defense of Byzantium" which is a large (laggy) fixed-force scenario. It's a fairly decent one, rated in I think the low to mid 4's, but it's not really a six-scenario epic either. The Byzantines just don't have a whole lot of brilliant heroes like those featured in the ES campaigns, so they're not hugely popular for historic campaigns.
If you wanted, you could download the Byzantium map and build a short mission on that with no problem. I think there's a link in the SD FAQ thread.

Hah, I think Byzantines are the civ that there are most campaigns/scenarios of.
