I've searched through the forums and haven't found anything helpful; forgive me if these have been asked before.
I have been working on an RM scenario (screenshot) designed for a free-for-all game.
First, the small question: I found some posts on how to make sailable ice, but my problem is I have it and don't want it. How can I get rid of it?
What I want to accomplish is this: if there are less than 8 players, or if a player drops early in the game, their map resources are removed or otherwise blocked off so that others can't move in and take them to get an unfair advantage. I may even want to block off their entire island.
It looks like there isn't any way to remove map resources (gold, stone) with a trigger. Is there?
If not, what's the best idea for a workaround? My first thought was to simply place rocks around the resources, but that could get messy if any units or buildings are near them. I thought about making it a task-timer-kill-create chain, to move units away and kill any that get left behind, but I'm worried about things going wrong with that. I could just place dozens of rocks around each one, but I'm hoping for something a little more elegant, and even that would still be breakable.
I also thought of using looping task objects, either around each resource or the entire island, to just make it impossible to mine them, but that could get frustrating for players if they accidentally walk in, or get cornered by a fight.
Has anyone ever successfully done something like this?
