This was a fun B&D scenario even though there is plenty of room for refinement. The maps visual theme was quite pleasant although trying to avoid the white outline created by resources should be more a consideration. I like how there is some options for the player to explore which adds some depth;having some minutes to prepare the ambush could have added some depth along these lines;rush to get the men in place or hold out till the last minute? Its a bit unfortunate the player can be penalized for going there too soon, as you end up switching sides too quickly and I lacked techs like hand cart at the new base. This made it tedious to sit behind some castles slowly teching up. Eventually I got a mass of mamelukes, monks, and trebs out and started clearing out enemies, although this slow moving but unstoppable force got a bit annoying to play with as I kept getting harassed by cav archers. Victory seemed only a matter of time so I called it a day there anyhow rather than trudge across the map several times.
Some of the text dialogues stayed permanently or sometimes seemed to pop in at poorly timed moments.
"Excellent could be any map that has the quality of a ES random map or ES scenario. AoK is an excellent, award winning game. That's where I'd start." -AnastasiaKafka
"Hard work is evil. Bitmaps are stupid. Working on a scenario for more than one afternoon is stupid. Triggers are stupid. Testing your own scenario is stupid. The world is stupid. You are the Greatest." -Ingo Van Thiel[This message has been edited by Kataphraktoi (edited 09-22-2018 @ 06:57 PM).]
