He got them via hex editing. My guess: Hidden beta units (as in hidden from the likes of GeniED. If you look very carefully at the back cover of the AOE 2 Gold Edition cover you'll see a squad of those purple knights in square formation around a priest)
Oliver, you have mastered the English language. Your use of words are so eloquent. The subtle thoughts in every message dig deep into the core of every reader. The characters leap out at you with strong personalities, making you remember them far after the game is over.
The design is amazing. Never before have I seen a abso-frickin-lutely huge Berserk like that. Jesus boy, what was he on? He was the size of NORWAY!
... If only there was a "6" rating.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How the hell have you done those different jousters? I have checked the data file with Genied, and the graphics numbers (for Knight, Cavalier and Paladin) are the same as the original data!
So they are not units hidden in the graphics.drs list.
Or are they?
One more thing: what's with the empires2_x1_p1.dat? (or something like that)

The knights you saw are hidden as graphics only in the graphics.drs file. There are no beta units with these graphics. I did the hex-hax way before the release of GeniEd2 Enhanced, btw.
The parts I edited are only accessible with a hex-editor; that's why the units don't appear to be changed when you watch unit data in GeniEd2 Enhanced. I have a certain advantage over GE2E since I can easily and quickly access all slots in the graphics.drs file. If you want to learn how do to this sort of hex-hax, check out my article at the Tsuniversity.

Is the stable with a 100 ville trapped in it(named AoE3H) an easter egg?
I wanted to add dialogue to Elpea and NAT but ran out of time.

Some have the c-patch, some don't. If you've got it, the file I have to replace isn't empires2_x1.dat, but empires2_x1_p1.dat. Instead of providing two separate downloads, I included both .dat files. Don't worry, it is removed when you run the uninstaller.

Damn, I really need to learn how to modpack and hex-hax. These are the only things that keep me from being a "complete" designer.

Yipee so I was right (sort of)! Are those the only hidden graphics or are there more? They're pretty cool, but somehow they don't seem to blend in very well with other characters/units. It would be wicked if you could make a hole army of those purple fellas!
