Welcome to the Forge!

What is the Forge you ask? The Forge is a place where all budding designers such as yourself may post information about their upcoming project, such as single and multiplayer scenarios, campaigns, mod packs and utilities. These will be put on display for all to see and updated according to their progress along the way. All you have to do is leave a comment below and we'll take care of the rest!

In addition, all issues, requests and questions regarding the Blacksmith may be posted here in return for a quick answer. We shall also endeavour to post all noteworthy submissions here under Blacksmith News so be sure to keep an eye out!

POSTING YOUR PROJECT:

Please leave a comment below, which should contain your project name, project type (scenario, campaign or mod pack/utility etc), genre/style (FF, B&D etc), percentage complete and a general description of the project. The description should read like a blurb to a novel; it should be short, sharp and catchy - enough to interest potential downloaders. We'll compile the information and add your project to The Forge!

WHAT NOT TO POST:

Do not post information about a project you've already completed, or which you'll finish in a day or two, just for advertising. Post works-in-progress, not completed files.

Do not post information for projects you know you're not going to finish. By posting your project here, people will expect to see it finished one day. That being said, life happens and we understand that some projects will never see the light of day due to changing circumstances.

On the side, please consider your projects carefully. We would rather smaller projects over epic campaigns due to the likelihood of the former actually being completed. We do not want to discourage you from embarking on that all-inspiring epic, but we also don't want you to feel like your new project has to be a world beater every time. That being said, it is absolutely fine to showcase your campaign in chapters with open endings, which increases the likelihood of you completing it!

Discover the most promising works from all genres and formats submitted to the Blacksmith over the past 12 months. Please feel free to make suggestions!

Aztec architecture set, by omarrgg - 4/5/18 - Relive the peek of the Aztec civilisation in this glorious and colourful modification.

Wildlife Pack - by Vardamir - 3/6/18 - In the author's own words, this neat mod pack brings to the editor "a large set of variant AoK animals, including six wolves, seven deer, three jaguars, seven birds, three bears, a llama, a sheep, and 27 horses." This is a more than useful addition to any scenario!

The Legend of the White King, by Bassi - 2/26/18 - Traverse the beautiful and often inhospitable rainforests of Brazil alongside Portuguese conquistador Alejo Garcia in search of the fabled lands of the 'White King'. This stunning five scenario campaign is the author's best work to date!

Siege of Nicaea - by Cataphract - 1/2/18 - Wage the First Crusade with your European brethren as the Byzantines led by Manuel Boutoumites during the bloody and dramatic siege of Nicaea. The powerful custom AI will test you!

Portuguese Civ Mod III - by danielpereira - 11/28/17 - Enjoy the third instalment to the stunning Portuguese Civ Mod, which includes 8 new civilisations and a raft of new game play features!

Ancient America - by Bassi - 10/6/17 - Relive four important events during the pre-Columbian era of Central America in what is a stunningly detailed and well-designed build-and-destroy affair. Ancient America awaits!

Battle of Lake Trasimene - by Alkhalim - 09/13/17 - Ravage the Roman mainland under the famous Hannibal of Carthage in what is a simple yet fun build-and-destroy scenario.

Minato and the Imperial Regalia - by AoE2 Edhun - 09/08/17 - A young man returns to the homeland of his grandfather only to find himself caught up in civil war and the struggle against the current shogunate. Enjoy this epic with hours of game play and a massively creative and detailed map!

First Battle of Panipat - by Shuvro - 05/04/17 - Relive one of Babur's famous military exploits in what is the author's first submission and depicts the Indian continent in a well-designed and immensely challenging affair. Can the Mughals hold off the much more numerous Delhi Sultanate?

Ragnar's Raids - by Al_Kharn the Great - 04/18/17 - Tread the rugged shores of Britain and Francia alongside the famous Ragnar Lodbrok in this epic Viking saga of conquest, exploration and plunder.

Black Wolves - by Vardamir - 02/20/17 - This is a neat little mod that gives designers the option of a menacing and darker wolf unit. Definitely worth the download.

Real Map Creator - by peterolson - 02/9/17 - Download this utility that enables you to create any realistic template based on real world geography.

Wind of the North by Mashek - 01/19/17 - When a fierce band of Northmen arrive at your small island on their way to the Irish mainland, you must convince peaceful fishermen to toss aside their nets and farming implements and prepare to defend their lives. Can you withstand the pagan Norse?

The In-Game Standard AI - by EliteRaider - 1/14/17 - Download the standard AI for the Conqueror's Expansion here, which should prove to be a useful tool for scenario designers over having to extract the AI from the drs files. This release also fixes the bug in Death Match games on Arena and Fortress maps that caused all civs (with exceptions to Huns and Goths) to only build towers on all difficulty settings besides easiest.

I'm starting to feel that itch as well, seeing as I've done a lot of designing recently! I believe Microsoft Outlook's "drop box" is a nice storage utility that doesn't require a portable/additional HDD.

For the record I've managed to release 2 scenarios in the last 2 years, so it's a noticeable improvement on my normal 1 scenario release per 10 years strategy.
It's always a very worthwile long wait though, I must say. Like waiting for the next season of GoT or something fancy that kids are into nowadays.
As for rage quit, all I meant by that was not getting to the 'perfect standard' you have set in your head and deciding on a total restart as a result, something you've done now a number of times.
That's an apt description. I'm really dying to get that perfect 5.0 rating I've always wanted, so I guess that kind of behavior is more bearable. Although it left me with nothing tangible to submit to the blacksmith for so many years.
Thanks to Andanu setting a good example
*a good example of a bad example
Oh it's rising
Ooh, I'm excited! Can't wait to see what you guys shall come up with.

You were definitely well on your way to achieving that perfect rating, but you kept giving up on those highly-promising albeit unfinished scenarios and prologues! By the way, do you have Steam? Check out "I am Setsuna" - a new old school JRPG but seems quite good!

EDIT: Just updated my project thread. It took a whole 2 minutes. Geez, I am lazy!

Does the blacksmith have a limit for the size of a file? I know the Agememnon's Fantasy Expansion had to be compressed alot but I heard that we removed the limit also. I've just released the first phase of an expansion project I am creating but don't want it to not be available in the Blacksmith if its too large.

Would it be possible to add PHP SCX Editor version 3?

It's a tool (created by Azzzru and I) that allows you to create scenarios from scratch using PHP scripting. It's similar to LUA-Trig (by Impeached).

It is going to be a huge leap from the current version 2.4.31 that Azzzru holds here. I'm going to branch the new version and make big changes including these two:
- Stand-alone Windows application with a simple text editor allowing sandbox PHP scripting.
- Having access to a much improved and neater API for scripting triggers, map, and units.

Essentially, I am going to embed the PH7 virtual machine that will power the PHP execution. Apart from a new INI file for configurations, there will be no more need for those loose files and no more relying on installing PHP with an IDE. I will also make it compatible for the latest HD Edition.

I'm looking forward to having it released before Christmas.

Story description

Ten historic characters from different times and places awaken in a strange and beautiful land. They quickly realize that they aren't going back to their homes anytime soon. They can't trust anyone. There are many unknowns, but perhaps the greatest of all: Will they rule this land or will it rule them? Ambiorix, Spartacus, Laozi, Al Hakim, a mute legionary from the Legio IX Hispana, Lancelotto Malocello, Fransisco De Orellana, Ikegusuku Anto and Hereward the Wake agree to find the nearest city together. What happens after? Only the players will tell.

Gametype/features description

  • Tries to defy categorization, but will most likely be subjected to the RPG misnomer, because...
  • The character you pick at the start of the game is what will shape the rest of the game. Dialogue, quests, attribute boosts and more are tailored to the unit you're playing with.
  • Consistent, functional, intuitive and unambiguous use of eye-candy and gameplay mechanics. (f.e. A rug next to a building will always do the same thing)
  • Open world as a collection of diverse and dynamic living regions
  • Real estate and population management!
  • Factions and fresh diplo with many tools at your disposal!
  • Contracts, relating to most other bullet points here...
  • A calendar system
  • An inventory system
  • Your friendly talking alpaca, and many more surprises! Wait...wh, nevermind.

    Progress

    Concept/Ideas/mechanics: 80%
Map design / eyecandy: 95% (fauna and most units not yet added, some parts also need more eye-candy, but I'll add that at the last stage)
Story progress: 5% (so much story, dialogue, questlines)
    Feature progress: 3%
    ________________________________
Overall progress: 12.5% (handpainting a LUDKrs map was the easy part, features will take up most of the time, story close second. Approx. 3 months left at this rate)

IMPORTANT: Looking for dialogue writers (japanese, portuguese, italian, arabic, mandarin?), otherwise I'll use google translate for the initial dialogue and just like star trek, I'll give them a 'universal translator' thingamajig.

    Teaser of Epicness:

Added! Looks interesting and insanely epic. Just be careful to keep a more grounded goal in order to complete the scenario, rather than looking to add multiple languages for the dialogue so soon especially since you're only 10% into the progress.

In my humble opinion the best way to handle translations is just to release the finished product in your own language, then if the quality is high enough it will either inspire a major language group converter like igorhp to contact you, or you can reach out to someone who posts translations and make a good case that this is worth their time. Most likely Chinese and Spanish are the easiest languages to aim for. The guys on HawkAoC have converted many blacksmith scenarios into Chinese over the years;made some good reading in their 'Playthrough Thread' equivalents

Basically Campaign Hall is for single player campaigns rated with a score more than 3.6. About half of them is translation of campaigns from AoKH. Some of the early original works are already uploaded to the steam workshop.

Single Player Campaign is for uploading, rating and discussing campaigns. Purple stands for a score of 4.5 to 5.0. Green stands for a score of 3.6 to 4.4. Blue stands for a score of 2.6 to 3.5.

You may want to check section like map design tutorials, custom random map, and multiplayer scenario as well.

Some recent notable campaigns include the following:
    - Missing by Hawk_Tout, which uses many new tricks made only possible with UP 1.5.
    - Mercenaries by troytroytroy, a huge modded RPG campaign with a very hardcore system.
    - Desert Star, a RPG made with Daniel Pereira's Extended Triggers Patch, and a sequel to Wendy's Wonderland currently translated and uploaded to the Blacksmith.

And for Bassi, I am actually one of the people replying under that thread about Kings of Destruction there. We are talking about translating your campaign and already thinking of asking your permission, but that is delayed because of the Lunar New Year Holiday.

I support that! You are allowed to translate all of my campaigns and to upload those on hawkaoc, also on steam workshop. All I ask for is giving credit and implementing a link to the original campaign.

Anyone on HawkAoC is likewise welcome to translate\post my Siege of Nicaea scenario. If I could humbly say so about my own file, I think it would be worth the time

Same goes for any of my works uploaded here. Having helped bring some works originally created in a foreign language (in this case, German) to AoKH and enjoyed the process thoroughly, I fully endorse any such efforts that others may wish to undertake

Hey Mash, the prelude for FF is now at 25%. The cinematic runs for about 15 minutes at this point. Not much of a progress but it at least shows that I'm still working on it.

Hoping to finish it and get into playtesting phase in around September.

Great work. Some progress is certainly always better than none! I look forward to its completion.

After a lot of hair-pulling and many failed attempts at creating an ancient Sumerian map with adequate fidelity, I completely revamped the ludakris rpg I am currently working on. I've done away with most triggers and the Sumeria theme (though, you can probably still recognize the Tigris and Euphrates rivers if you squint your eyes and are familiar with them: https://i.imgur.com/jmnsIIH.jpg). I've also been brainstorming and testing some additional features and reworking the older ones I was already going to implement. In essence, more features but easier to implement. Logically, I'm also writing a new story to fit the gameplay I'm going for and I already like it a huge deal more. More intrigue, more immersion, more weighty dialogue. Yasss!

Can you please update the 'Fantasumer' information with the following:

    Project: Exilium
    Author: GL252
    Progress: 33%
    Style: Multiplayer
Description: Four figures inexplicably appear in front of the gates of Amaton, the island city in the land of Exilium. When a first contact is upset by sudden danger, they flee and decide on cooperation to further explore their predicament.

Check me out on Steam: GL252 I'm very slowly building a scenario and eyecandy map portfolio.
