Cinematic Scenario Contest 2006

Download All of the Entries Here

G’day folks, the judging for the Age of Kings Heaven Cut-scene Competition has at last been completed. Below are the results for all 9 cut-scenes that were entered and put up alongside one another. I (Mashek) would just like to say I am utterly grateful to all contestants who entered; their hard work and time is very much appreciated. For all those contestants who did not make the deadline or resigned, I am still grateful to you because you entered, tried your best and made things interesting. Last but not least, I owe my deepest thanks to the two judges, Anastasia and Oliver who unflinchingly served alongside me to help judge the cut-scenes and who helped me so much in organizing this competition. I could not have done this without you, thank you.

These are the averaged out scores, and the official places of the cut-scenes:
===========================================================

1st place – 143 p – Immortal Prey Prologue, crasher

  • It was a beautiful plan to assassinate Lord Wylde, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and even the best-laid plans can go awry. Mystery, murder, and an unflinching brutality will draw you deep into this web of intrigue. The Immortal Prey Prologue – Eye Of The Beholder is a finely woven tale of suspense complete with mesmerizing intricacies unfolding during a thunder storm. A spellbinding cut-scene drama and a consummate overture to the campaign to come. Check it out!

    2nd place – 131 p – Day of the Red Moon, VonCorgath

  • A fabled tale set against the lush backdrop of the Alps. A long peace between the neighboring kingdoms of Tzech and Ungari has be broken by the revelation of an enigmatic prophecy. The Ungarians advance as the eagle flies, and in Tzech an old rivalry is renewed. King Pragg’s powerful army prepares for war, while his rival Colarin is compelled to lead a force into battle. Betrayed on the field of battle, Colarin meets his demise to complete the dramatic cliff hanger. A spectacular cut-scene performance and the perfect prelude to an epic campaign. Check it out!
    ===========================================================

    3rd place – 109 p – The Little Things, Boosh

  • Historic fiction set in Medieval Lithuania, but the strength of The Little Things is in the prose. Melancholy and beautiful, the cut-scene brings to light those passing moments in time that can stay with us forever, but which we don’t recognize when they happen. In the scenes we are introduced to a young man on the brink of adulthood and an old man on the brink of death. The two journeys become one in the eloquence of the writing. A captivating cut-scene and an exquisite preface to a coming of age story yet untold. Check it out!
    ===========================================================

    4th place – 104 p – Hero of the Day, Dark_Reign

  • Fictions typically revolve around the trials of a protagonist, who often qualifies as an unlikely hero. Moody, yet engaging, The Hero Of The Day introduces us to two types of unlikely heroes: the outcast hero and the unqualified hero. The outcast hero Robert appears unlikely because of his isolation from King Avnell and society, whereas the unqualified hero Captain Morgan just does not seem to satisfy the standards of a traditional, hero. Then the tables turn and this is the exordium of a classic rivalry. A stimulating cut-scene presentation and an ideal introduction to a campaign with heroic theme. Check it out!
    ===========================================================

    5th place – 104 p – A Heroic Story, Lance_O_Lot

  • Fun with gags and jokes that stab at the pedestrian in scenario designs, but sure will make you chuckle. Meet Phillip, the village idiot and unlikeliest of heroes as he begins his day. A Heroic Story does what it was made to do…entertain you and make you laugh, and at this great price you wont be disappointed! Also as an added bonus, a portion of the admission fee will benefit the Seacoast! A feel good funny piece and a great set up for a comedy adventure campaign. Check it out!
    ============================================================

    6th place – 102 p – Memories of a Misty Past, Julius999 Check it out!

    7th place – 101 p – Set in Stone, Fenrisulfr Check it out!

    8th place – 99 p – Battle of Kosovo, ByZan Check it out!

    9th place – 92 p – The Last Samurai Castle, Lord Basse Check it out!
