War Stories?
Posted by Aro on January 29th, 2007 @ 7:02 a.m.

SODDO has created a thread in our General & Strategy Discussions forum asking you, the humble general, to share your stories from the Age of Kings battlefield, whether it's a single player defeat or multiplayer victory. Have an interesting tale to tell or an epic battle to brag about? Oddly annoyed by my alliteration? Check out his thread now!

Continuous Screenshot Competition
Posted by Aro on January 23rd, 2007 @ 5:00 a.m.

Any mention of the word "continuous" might bring about the kind of staleness that only three straight weeks of playing Sims could bring, but luckily, a thread in our Scenario Design forum is slowly redeeming the word. Every week a small screenshot competition is held, showcasing some of the best of Age of Kings design. You can feel free to join in on the fun and submit your own design, or even vote for the best looking screenshot.

One More Christmas Gift, Anyone?
Posted by Aro on January 8th, 2007 @ 3:48 a.m.

As a Christmas present from Tsunami Studios (and we all know we need more presents), oliver has created a thread in our Scenario Design forum, offering a new add-on to Age of Empires II, "Renaissance, an Unofficial Scenario Designer's Expansion Pack". Says oliver...

"As the title implies, this is an attempt at an unofficial expansion pack for Age of Empires II. And when I say expansion, I really mean expansion. This is not a modification, this does not change the already existing units, technologies or graphics. This is an add-on; it adds new material to the game, but not on the expense of the old. Thanks to this approach, this expansion is backwards compatible with all user-created content in the history of Age of Kings."

Interested? Check out the complete thread for the expansion here for the download link, more information, and pictures of the add-on in action!

Have a happy new year from all of us at Age of Kings Heaven!

Every year, I take the time to talk about the future of Age of Kings Heaven. What could happen in this glorious new year, two-thousand and seven, that would overshadow any other year? We'll have to see; my magic 8-ball is cloudy this year (the dial has been stuck on "maybe"), but we're in the beginning stages of a "sekret overhaul project" for the content, and even a few contests in the works (*tries to skin the Gallery*).

In celebration of the new year, residential forumer xyzomma has posted a thread in our Town's Crier forum called 2006 in Review: A Look Back at the Previous Year in AoKH. It's an interesting look back into 2006 and a great bedtime story for the children before they go back to school.

Again, have a great new year!
