The Turkish Chewing Gum Strategy

This strategy is best used with Turks, because of their free Light Cavalry. It takes a lot of micromanaging skills. Here is what you do.

In the Dark Age: Concentrate on food and wood, like always.

In the Feudal Age: Concentrate on getting the little bit of gold necessary for Castle Age. Get tons o’ food. You will need it. Meanwhile, patrol their base with a few troops of your choice, just near the chokepoints. We don’t want them to build walls completely around their base. Build scout cav during the transition to Castle. You should have multiple stables, because you want the Scout Cav to become an army of L-cav when you hit Castle. Also, build a few walls, because you don’t need the stone for a quick castle when you advance. Your economy has to be strong.

In the Castle Age: By now you should have a few Light Cavalry. When you have what could be considered an army, or even a small skirmish force, divide it in half, and send one half in one direction, and on half in the opposite direction.

Start Chewing the Gum: Assign one group to number 1 or 2 or whatever you want, and the other group a number also. These are the teeth. The enemy is the gum. Send them in at the same time. The enemy will probably be expecting a Light Cav rush, but you should be able to outrun the spearmen. If you were lucky, you might have taken out some of their guys with your patrol that was keeping the walls away (remember them? Use them in your first attack, to kill the spearmen. Just sacrifice them. WHen they die, a handful of Jannies will destroy pikes. Use them for a small support group until the next step.)

When they counter attack, run away. That is one open and close of the mouth. Keep going that way. At the same time, you should get a castle and build a few Jannisaries.

Bite down hard: Keep building more “teeth” (L-cav), and if you need to, send in few Jannisaries (Or x-bows if you don’t have a castle) to kill their spearmen.

When you get a sizable force of Jannies and a few rams (you don’t need rams), split them in half and add them to the rest of the teeth. Bite the gum (enemy player) really hard. And keep chewing with the L-cav and Jannisary teeth.

Swallow the Gum: When you do this enough, if successful, you will kill off most of the spearmen. Also, try to get at the villies with a few of your L-cav. When they are weakened, send in rams, or trebs if you can. Utterly destroy them. Then swallow them.

In team games, let your ally take care of the other guy. After all, more than one piece of gum will ruin your teeth, and you only have one mouth. Can’t micromanage two.

NOTE: This takes a LOT of micromanaging, because you need to control two armies. One option – just watch one army, and if you see that your other army is getting attacked on the mini map, just push their number hotkey and run them back to your base

HANDY REFERENCE:

1. Incisors – The patrol from Feudal, and the Light Cavalry, used for nibbling at the beginning.

2. Cuspids and Biscuspids – Jannies, used for strong attack, and archers for keeping Pikes away until you get Jannies.

3. Molars – Rams and Trebs, used for smashing and crushing and grinding (buildings).
