So I'd been looking for a decent Minas Tirith scenario for Age of Kings
on the forums, but wasn't able to find them. At least not for AoK and
without some conversion mod. So I've decided to make one myself.
BUT this one is not done yet!!!
That's why I need your help!!! While the most important triggers are
already installed, I have need for some feedback and comments before
I can fully program the siege of the city. So if you've got 1 hour
to play a decent scenario (in bèta version) and like LOTR, please
help me! Your goal is simple: Defend Minas Tirith for 1 hour and you've
won. Sounds easy he? Well, right now, it is. But to crank up the
difficulty and the fun I need some info from actual players. Thanks!
PLEASE READ INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS ON THE FAR BOTTOM!!!!!
Version 1.00 has the following features installed:
-Minas Tirith in full glory, the heavily defended city is ready to
be commanded!
-Real music and dialogues from the movies add up to the overal LOTR
experience, even without a conversion mod!
-60+ triggers make up for a nice fight for at least 25 minutes.
(After that I need more info, so that's why I need you guys!)
-(Enemy) reinforcements can arrive at any minute! Be surprised :-)
HOW TO INSTALL (STICK TO THIS ORDER!!!):
1. Unpack the "Sounds" map on your desktop.
2. Copy all the MP3 files from the "Sounds" map to your
...\AOE2\Sound\scenario map.
3. Unpack the .scn file unto your desktop.
4. Copy the .scn file into your ...\AOE2\Scenario map.
5. Start the game and the scenario should be in your custom scenario
menu.
6. Play the battle!
7. Give me your ideas, comments and feedback please!
(DO NOT change ANYTHING in the scenario! It is VERY sensitive!
Play only!!!)
PLEASE POST YOUR COMMENTS, COMPLAINTS, IDEAS AND BÈTA REVIEWS FOR THIS
SCENARIO IN THE FILE'S THREAD! THANKS TO ALL WHO WANT TO HELP ME!

Playability: 4
I put 4 because I enjoyed playing it. But for the first 20/30min only. After the attacks are not triggered and get boring.
Balance: 2
After 20 minutes we begin to see lots of weakness in our first walls. I pulled back to the second wall, but the attack somewhat stopped. The last armies keep destroying the walls but not enough the good gate, while there is no more reinforcment: it becomes too easy.
Creativity: 4
The continous sounds taken from the film and the constants attacks make a very good ambiance. This is a great great part of the scenario.
The city is well designed, but the AI has some difficulties to destroy seconds walls.
But I regret that the units are not renamed (Gandalf, Faramir, ...). And Rohan leave the game in the first 2 minutes. (The reinforcement still arrive).
Map Design: 3
The city of Gondor is well done! But a bit difficult for the AI to understand how to attack it.
The land outside of the city are flat, but I don't care since we are not supposed to go this far.
Story/Instructions: 4
Instructions are simple. You just have to survive to the end. The story follow the movie in a good way.

Hey there! Thanks for this review! I will definitely use it when I continue building this scenario! A few points to make:
-Units cannot be renamed in Age Of Kings, I was very dissapointed with that too. If you DO know a way on how to do it, please tell me.
-Rohan does indeed reseign within the first 2 minutes. This is unavoidable and doesn't hurt any triggers or other parts of the scenario.
-Thanks to your advice I will continue to make the enemy smarter and stronger. I will also weaken some wall sections to increase the challenge ;-)
Thank you for your help! Please keep an eye out for the next version! |

Most people nowadays use the Conquerors Expansion instead of Age of Kings. Why don't you make some scenarios with this pack? |

Playability: 3
I have played the game and it is too easy and there is a bit fun in playing it. I have been given control of 3 units and enemies are coming across and i need to kill them..I can just leave them like that and just maintain them at the gates and that is enough..so not enjoyed that much.
Balance: 2
Balance is not proper. My side is very much stronger than the Enemies and they are getting massacred very easily.
Creativity: 3
Much creativity is not there as the story is followed as it is and no elements has been added to surprise or to make it more interesting.
Map Design: 3
The city is designed properly but mostly plain. The field is also plain mostly without much of trees or rocks or something to bring in naturality.
Story/Instructions: 3
Story and instructions are fine. But there is no dialogues to expand the story or no drama while playing. just you will stand infront at the gates and start killing soldiers. Instructions are just you need to Survive till end which is pretty easy to achieve.
