Hi
Sorry about the old one, where things didn't work at all. Here's a new one and it's completely different.
The name of the campaign says much. I do not attempt to recreate the great battles of neither the book "The Lord of the Rings" or the movie.
The 3 scenarios in this campaign are "The Battle for Pelargir", "Gondor for Rohan" and "Dol Guldur".
I will upgrade this Campaign with both improved scenarios and new ones. However, do not expect to see some of the things you liked from the book or the movie. I've avoided them to be able to create my own Middle Earth.
If you have comments or thoughts about the campaign, please, do post them. |

Look, i'm not trying to be harsh... Cuz you got a really good idea here! Its just there were almost no triggers. And the maps were mostly grass and a couple of cliffs. I think if you release a newer version with maybe better maps, triggers, and a storyline within the game, then i would consider playing this campaign.. |

PLAYABILITY
Unfinished Tales of Middle Earth (UToME) is a campaign based upon the various fantasy books (Lost Tales 1,2 and 3, Lord of the Rings, and the Red Book). While it does accurately retell the classic tales of J.R.R. Tolkien, the campaign's playability leaves a lot to be desired. Most of the time you start off with a huge army of 200 or more, and must complete a single objective -- usually move unit X to area Y, and kill unit Z. Your enemies are in equally vast numbers, and will try to stop you. It pretty much goes without saying that lag is a real issue in UToME, hundreds of units slaughtering each other on a giant-sized map doesn't rest easy on the average computer. +2
BALANCE
The campaign can be won with little effort, as the objectives are very simplistic and easy to complete. Your enemies -- although in vast numbers -- rely on the standard AI, and so are pretty stupid. They wander around in circles, as if they don't know which way to go. They stand around and do nothing, while they're comrades are under attack just a few tiles away. In the second scenario was impossible to beat. In it, you must assist your beleagured ally by defeated the enemy that is attacking him, and if his main unit is killed you lose. I found that the attacking goblin horde slaughtered him time after time before I could reach him. There is pretty much no way to win that scenario, no matter how fast you run to save him. -3
CREATIVITY
Most Middle Earth scenarios seem to be based on the recent movie trilogy by Peter Jackson, but this one is based on events written in Tolkien's earlier books, so it is creative in that regard. However, there is nothing original about the typical "1000 units on one side, 1000 units on the other, and brawl!" formula. It's gameplay is just a rehash of countless other campaigns. 2
MAP DESIGN
"Map design" is a bit of a compliment. The map of UToME is just plain grass with units placed in their hundreds. In the second and third scenarios, there are castles with walls placed around them which are supposed to represent Osgiliath and Minas Tirith. 1
STORY/INSTRUCTIONS
While it does have a firm story based upon the books, UToME assumes that you are already familiar with the world of Middle Earth. Someone who had never read the books or watched the movies would not have a clue as to what this campaign is about. There are lots of comprehensive hints, and good spelling. -4
SUMMARY
Overall, a poorly designed campaign. |

The campaign has been updated. All the scenarios have been remade, so that design and gameplay should be somewhat improved. I'll post a new update shortly, this update is old and youd have been posted a long time ago. The final relase will be ready in a few days(with soundpack and very improved scenarios)
Thanks for downloading
