This is a three pack with rather obscure names (eztg, sfekkie, and sven). There are no instructions, no hints, and no objectives, no events, and no triggers that I could find. In all three you are Britons and the enemy is Franks. These three are essentially random maps where somebody made the maps by hand. They are playable then, and nothing's exactly broken, but then there is hardly anything _to_ break! They all have more resources (wood, stone, gold) than you could ever use in a game of several hours in length. Gold or stone fields might cover an area with hundreds of squares. I find this a little silly, but no real barrier to enjoying the scenarios.
The first (eztg) sets you up on a walled island with ridiculous numbers of relics ("gee! how else would I ever have found out that you can only get 10 relics in one monastery?") and so many sheep that you literally cannot move them all out of the way. There IS a trick there -- I mean, if you really are interested in getting RID of them without actually waiting endless hours while your villagers chop them up. I'll put it at the bottom of this review to avoid spoiling it in case you really want to treat this as a bit of a puzzle!
Other than that, it's a mildly interesting island map, and nothing special except build enough to go waste the baddie, then waste 'im! Sfekkie has some small differences. Now you are at a smallish but established encampment in a more-or-less arabian map with ocean. There is a puzzle there (how do I get OUT of here?!) and that made the game mildly interesting, at least for a time. There are even a few interesting red herrings to send you away from the right track. Even so, it's just one puzzle, and after that, go build and fight the baddie.
Sven is the third in this series. Now you are in a grassy plain, with a reasonably well-established dark-age encampment. There is a small collection of obstacles to avoid before you can go for the enemy's throat, but they could hardly be called a puzzle. Let's just say they do add a slight interest! Anyway, the map is, again, mildly interesting, with plenty of places to look around and/or get lost. The enemy, as in the other scenarios, doesn't seem to do much but build and attack, with all activity otherwise restricted to the same single area. These weren't exactly boring, they were just what you might expect from a random map game with only one computer enemy. Addition of instructions, an identifiable objective, even a few hints, plus some triggers and a bit of story: all this would make this a much better offering. But what the heck, the price is right: it's free!

eztg spoiler: don't use the villagers to 'capture' your sheep (making them your color). instead, use your towers to attack them one at a time to get rid of them fast! The towers can't attack them once they are blue.
sfekkie spoiler: cut through the woods above your town, right where the lumber camp is already. There are plenty of interesting places that look very tempting to cut through to. I found none of them really get you anywhere, though to be fair, the woods near the remote oasis at the end of the path _are_ pretty close to the main ocean waters, if you want to try coming out there first. |
