This Bannerman unit uploaded by Mahazona is a fixed version of a unit originally uploaded as part of the Battles of Middle Earth (BOME) Total Conversion modpack. Unfortunately the original version of the unit from the BOME mod is damaged and only showed up as Yellow in game, no matter which player it’s was given too. Mahazona has now fixed this error and reupliaded it as a stand alone unit for us to use as we wish on our own larger Mod Packs and scenarios.
The unit takes the form of an AOK pikeman but with one noticeable difference, it is wielding a flag rather than a spear. This makes the unit take the form of a bannerman who flies his army’s banners as they march into battle. As a result of weilding a flag rather than a spear, the unit has no weapon to attack and therefore there are is attack SLP given in the download. As a result, the unit would have to be added with data editing as opposed to a straight SLP swap. Additionally the unit has no decay graphics, but being based on the AOK pikeman it is acceptable to use those pre-existing graphics without much notice or complaints from others.
Graphically the unit is great. As stated previously, the base of the unit is the AOK pikeman, which makes the unit blend in perfectly with the rest of the vanilla game and other units. The animation is smooth and there aren’t many complaints to give. One noticeable issue that I find it that whilst the unit is standing it looks as though the flag is falling down the pole rather than waving in the wind. This is not a serious error but can be quite noticeable. The unit itself is very novel and their isn’t anything else like it in the Blacksmith currently. Many people have wanted to use this unit for years, and now finally can without issue thanks to Mahazona’s fix. Overall this is a great addition to the editor and a well recommended download.
