This is the empires2.exe version 2.0 (v 0.14.14.914) file which was not in the Blacksmith yet. This is the unpatched original version of the game. For those who are having trouble getting AoK to run on Windows 10 (AoK not launching), this might offer the solution for you - it did the trick for me, coming from a 2.0a version (Gold edition of the game).
This version does not require a CD to run, which is excellent for those without a CD drive which is quite common these days. Remember to support and buy the game.
To install simply copy the empires2.exe to your default AoE2 directory, usually located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires II\
Overwrite the original empires2.exe file, or make a backup first (recommended).
