Frankish Adventure is a B&D, you play the French during the Hundred Year’s war and this time you win.
PLAYABILITY: You win the opening "battle" without moving the curser, kill two swordsmen to clear the path for trade to an allied town, resist an attack of four throwing axmen and two cavalries to finally destroy an easy to find castle (tower of London), right north of your harbor, to win. Apart of the allied town and London, I did not see any other enemy town or fortification during game play. 1
BALANCE: I played the scenario on hard and it was unbalanced. It was an "all advantages to player 1" game. I had no reload and when the victory signal surprised me, I wanted to use the Marco Polo cheat from a saved game to see the build up of the enemy. In vain, I did not even have a saved game. 1
CREATIVITY: There is nothing to mention for this category, no creative aspects in design, story and balance nor were there any game enhancing features. 1
MAP DESIGN: Most of the map consists of flat grass 1 and clumped trees. A swamp, different water depth and broken roads boost the rating. 2
STORY/INSTRUCTIONS: This is the best part of the scenario, objectives, hints, a scout section, a sentence for history and a small story. 4
OVERALL: Frankish Adventure is an unpretentious scenario.
SUGGESTIONS: To improve playability and balance, you should play the campaigns and scenarios that come with the game. From category rating, here balance, from the review tutorial: "A perfectly balanced scenario should provide a challenge for a veteran player. Most people who are downloading scenarios from the internet have at least played through the campaigns included with the game and have a good knowledge of the game." To improve map design, click the button, use a computer generated map and change it to your needs.
OBSERVATIONS: The author uploaded five scenarios in one day. Not enough effort went into this scenario.
IN CLOSING: I recommend the scenario for beginners.

Playability: This was a very fun scenario, from the start to the end. It's not an RPG, and actually is a lot like a RM game since you control a civilization. The opening battle of Agincourt was a little lame, but it gets a lot better after that.
Balance: I thought this scenario was really easy, even when played on higher difficulties. I think you could've added some strength to the Britons, and made them attack me harder. Or, give the Spanish tougher resistance; after all, they're protecting gold! This scenario is way too easy to win; simply by going Imperial and making Cannon Galleons to take out the British Castles.
Creativity: A well thought out, creative scenario. I like the Frankish civilization located on the shoreline, and the idea of putting Spain in for gold was cool. The only reason I didn't give you a "5" is because I really thought the opening Battle of Agincourt was lame.
Map Design: There wasn't a lot of eye candy or gusto on this map, but I really liked it. I thought it was a very pretty map, and it was very clean; not at all messy. Your locations for Britain, France and Spain were good, and I liked your placement of forests. I would've made the island of Britain larger though. It's too easy to take out the Castles with Cannon Galleons.
Story/Instructions: Instructions are good. I would've liked a detailed storyline, and that's the reason you're getting a "3" for this category. |

A very easy game yes. I didn't get bored, but you could put some more effort in the opponent's strenght. |
