This scenario is OK, but I shall point out the good and bad points.
EyE-cAnDy value: 4.5 stars
There's quite a bit of EyE-cAnDy in this scenario. It has plenty of walls, and it also has a small camp up at the top of the map (north corner). Don't forget the great use of the Aztec Castle! It is supposed to be a Pyramid, and the creator of this scenario nailed it perfectly. And, he used both Mayans and Aztecs to use both pyramid wonders. That grave is pretty cool (it's represented by a bunch of walls in a X shape with a tower in the middle of it). There's only one bad point. The berry bushes. There's so many of them inside a wall. That's what gives this catagory a 4.5.
Map copy ability: 4.5 stars
You can pretty much copy everything into your map, but you can't get the cool names of some of the things:-( Hopefully I'll be able to learn how to use the Change name/HP/attack trigger. Until then, this gets a 4.5.
Overall rating: 4.5 stars
Hopefully the author changes a few things such as the berry bushes, but other than those things, this scenario's pretty good. Download it if you need to make a scenario about Toetihuacan. |

The utility shows an eye-candy map based on Teotihuacan, an ancient city of Mesoamerica and means commonly translated from the Nahuatl "City of the Gods". The utility starts as a guided tour, an eagle warrior; later the player explores the city with the unit.
USEFULNESS/NOVELTY: A title like Mesoamerican city would suit the utility better; the utility does not justify the high demand by its name. The utility does not for what it is intended to be, it does not show the historical site of Teotihuacan. The usefulness for scenario design is limited to the idea to have a big city with Mayan and Aztec buildings of the same player color, to have more variety. The map, of hardly random map quality is not useful for map copy either. With regard to the novelty factor, it is the first utility attempting to show this ancient city, but inferior to the Mesoamerican cities I have seen in scenarios and the execution is rather poor and uncreative. 2
QUALITY/INSTRUCTIONS: The map quality is a good example of how not to design a city. It is square, straight lines with plenty of walls, few elevations, lack of terrain mix, blending and a huge amount of forage bushes, stone/gold mines and a walled place with turkeys, boar and deer inside the city walls. The overall impression is unrealistic; still some effort went into placing all buildings. Instructions are non-existent; the introduction screen blank, the author's description gives the impression of a guided tour. The tour consists of three renamed buildings, the pyramids of the moon and sun, Quetzalcoatl's temple and the grave of the Unknown Soldier. The visitor keeps guessing if it is for map copy, an example for map design, a city tour or just 'fun' to collect 5000 of each resource with 181 villagers. 2
SUGGESTIONS: The utility needs some effort to study the historical Teotihuacan to be useful. In addition, historical information and instructions about the utilities use are mandatory. Besides there is nothing more boring than having 5000 wood, food, stone and gold as an objective.
IN CLOSING: I do not recommend downloading. |
