Playability: this scenario is slow, laggy, and just isn't any fun at all. The author notes in the description page that there are lots of resources, but a better fitting description would be that there is NOTHING BUT resources. About 95% of the map is covered in massive forests, hundreds of gold and stone mines, dozens of fish spots and forage bushes. Since the bases of the two players are separated by a huge forest, playing without siege onagers is unthinkable. Even with SOs it takes ages to cut through to the other player's base and the extremely cramped nature of the map means that you can easily cover the entire gap with bombard towers, castles and walls. Since resources are basically infinite on this map the whole game turns into a stalemate. I haven't played a game on this map to a conclusion, and I don't think I'd want to. If two equally skilled players versed each other on this map, it would quite possibly never end. 1
Balance: both players start at opposite sides of the map, and some effort has been made to give them both an equal start. However, they are unequal in many areas. Player 1 starts out a long way away from his trees and forage bushes (it's just about the only open space on the whole map) and I had to delete my TC and relocate to somewhere closer to resources. Player 2 on the other hand starts in very close proximity to resources, giving him a clear advantage. In the late game there isn't much room for farms, so you have to rely on fish traps quite a bit. Both players have a small lake of fish and a dock, but player 2 has a considerably larger lake with more fish. Player 2 also has more gold and stone mines on his side of the map, although there are so many anyway that doesn't matter much. 3
Creativity: nothing new or interesting, this kind of scenario has been done many times and it really isn't much fun to begin with. Other than the incredibly excessive resources this would just be a random map. 1
Map Design: snow pine, forest, oak, bamboo and palm trees have been mixed seemingly at random, and the area both players have to build their bases in is nothing but snow grass with a couple of flower patches over the gold mines. The only part of the map I thought was appealing was the river down the center, which has different shades of water mixed together to give it a attractive, realistic look. As for playability, I've stated my case above. The map is just too crowded, and it takes a lifetime to cut through the forest to reach your opponant. 2
Story/Instructions: no story or theme of any kind, just a couple of basic hints. 2
Summary: the overdose of resources makes this map almost unplayable, to the designer I'd advise sticking to more modest resource placement in future scenarios. Maybe putting all the resources in the centre of the map or in some hard to find place? Also, add a story, perhaps redo the scenario's gameplay, and above all play some high-rated B&D scenarios to gain experience. As it stands now, I don't recommend this scenario. |

I disagree. This gives you the chance to build up some heavy militairy, + it's fun to play it with friends if you want a nice challenge when you can be the first to build the best army and then go for it. The more resources the better, my kind of style. 4/5 |
