Build and Destroy |
A German village in the Black forest is under siege by the large forces of the Frankish bandit Alain de Savage. Fend off his attacks and eliminate his forces .
I was wondering if a small, fully upgrades army could destroy a large but Feudal Age army. Test it out in this scenario. It's more of a random map game, but the enemy has much more soldiers. I hope you will enjoy it. |

Good idea and approach, it was a challenging experience.
EDIT: I believe I have to explain the above further. I played the scenario first on hardest as the author set the test level in the editor. You might lose some times before you find the right defense tactic. The enemy attacks in the first minutes of the game with a massive army and rams, it is fun and challenging. If this is too difficult, try hard first. You got 8 minutes and 30 seconds until the attack, but other than with hardest, they attack in small groups without rams. The enemy does not attack on moderate or lower.
Mind you that this is the Conquerors Expansion, the standard AI tuned down to make the random map games, build & destroy games, suitable for children from 8 years on while the recommended age for Age of Kings was 12 years. For games like 'Small vs Weak', hardest in TCE corresponds to moderate with AoK, while standard in AoK is equivalent to hard with TCE.

Nice long build up...and I would say Yes a small Imperial age force kicks butt!!..It could have been much smaller...but I do like a hard game...maybe a little more in the terrain design so there are more attack choices than just a couple of large openings...
Overall a Fun game.!..Keep up the good work! |

@ Tanneur99; I don't really understand your point. Is my scenario too hard, or is it not really fit for the younger players? |

The Balance is perfect provided the player plays hard or hardest.
You set hardest as test level in the editor, which was fun, hard was too easy, but suitable for less experienced players.
I removed a review, which marked playability and balance down, quote,
"However, after one and a half hours of play I still had not been attacked, and thus I decided to go on the offensive."
The reviewer obviously played moderate or lower only and attacked a Feudal Age army with his strong upgraded forces in the end that is why I edited my post to explain further.

I think it is an unsure thing to rely on AI.
The first time I played it like a normal random map and got kicked when Alain and his rams and a small army arrived in 6 min or so, I had only 20 vills then so I garrisoned 5 each in the towers they killed many units and then got destroyed.
The next time I advanced quickly and put up more walls. There was an attack by a large army of archers, spearmen and scout cavalry (not rams) but the towers fully garrisoned with archers/vill took them all out. Now I am well into castle age (with a castle up and mangonels) and there hasn't been another attack.
I played on hardest.
Basically the standard Ai is quite unrelaible. Use triggers instead. |

Thanks for your comments, Sword_of _STORM. I am thinking of an update. Maybe I'll add an agressive AI-file and some attack-triggers. |
