start out by pressing h-c-c-c-c to start villager production immediately
do everything faster. your villagers are always idle for a few seconds while youre thinking, which is bad. that shoudl improve with experience though.
i wouldnt palisade immediately. i just don't think its worth the time. since a single man at arms can take it out. and never send a single villager without the loom because wolves will kill it.
dont get gold so soon, you started with enough because it was high resources, you shouldnt be at 700 gold and 300 food (as you were in the early feudal age)
dont start getting gold so early in the dark age. don't advance past the dark age until you have at least 25 villagers. you had 9! well actually its different for you since you did the game on high resources, but still, you need more. if youre going to advance that early at least build some militia while youre advancing.
dont make the market so early if you dont even have an ally
if you have enough food, and your town center is idle, make villagers!
you should download some recorded games and watch the dark age to castle part

Use the pause key to be able to plan your actions better. Warning: If you're ever going to play online you should get rid of that habit, but as long as you only play computers it helps a LOT.

Yes he is correct. The best way around in offline games is to pause n play the game. You will learn fast and develop your game. Once you know whats the plan, try to work it out quickly with hotkeys as said by the first comment.
