"Favorite campaigns" is a 20 scenario epic. Except that listed number is wrong, as i counted 37 total scenarios contained. I selected 6 scenarios out of this total to gain an idea of the content within and if the review seems short for 37 scenarios worth of content, well quite frankly the effort in the review is proportional to the effort ingame.
Playability 2
I will now describe the gameplay of the scenarios encountered, which should shine a good illumination on the contents.
Scenario "a Unhappy Villager" You are unhappy with the lot of farmers, so you complain about it at the TC. You get kicked out and win in 2:46. Quite a lucky end, if a villager did that in my games he would get the delete button.
Scenario "Kushluk II Joan the Wife" You have deathmatch style resources, post imperial, and just need to knock a few towers down to nab your hero a wife.
Scenario "Gladiator Fight I" Your William Wallace is pitted against a endless stream of random enemies resulting in a win at 5:17
Scenario "Toby 05 Rebels" Its a B&D 2v1 in your favor, in a black forest environment. You get plenty of resources, so boom up behind your dozens of bombard towers and push out when ready.
Scenario "Vikings 03" Its a B&D, you have a castle age base with many castles, big resources, and must kill 2 dark age TCs on the mainland, accomplished in a few minutes with a berserker+ram push.
Scenario "Vikings 10" Its fixed force on a random Mediterranean map. You have a big fleet of fully upgraded vessels, while your enemy has a smaller fleet of un-upgraded vessels;hunt them down to win in a few minutes.
Balance 1
The minimal balance score reflects the fact that the player is given multiple freebie missions in which he can hardly lose. Besides missions that you win simply by walking to a given spot, the missions with enemies featured an enormous strength disparity between standing armies, to the point any combat could be resolved without the player doing anything besides clicking once on the enemy.
Creativity 2
Most scenarios mixed it up adequately so it plays differently than random maps.
Map Design 2
Its about on random map levels. There is detailing work but is extremely inconsistent. There are straight up random maps as well. And of course, the good old blank map makes another showing.
Story\Objectives 2
There is just enough objectives and hints to avoid a minimum, with clear instructions and a little ingame dialogue.
