Age of Chivalry: Hegemony
Age of Chivalry - a total conversion modification pack for Age of Empires II: the Conquerors set in Western and Central Europe 1100-1500 AD.
Requires the C patch.
Some versions of AoK:TC come with the patch pre-installed, such as some Gold and Collectors Editions. If this is the case, do not install the patch!
Although the graphic changes are been extensive, we've also gone for a total revamp of the gameplay. We've replaced all of the 18 civilisations, there are many new units, new, civilisation-specific buildings (the Princely Court, the Assembly Hall and the Guild Hall) as well as over a dozen new technologies, policy decisions, a mercenary system, new combat dynamics, and even an extensive history section. Yes, that's right: we're replacing all the civilisations in the game with new ones!
Wider support for scenario-only objects is included, and to showcase these a multi-scenario campaign is included with the mod itself. Multiplayer and random map balance has been tweaked, a rudimentary AI has been included, and with the new countries joining the mix, the European battles are even better!
Features:
* Command one of three types of civilisation: the early-game Communal civilisations, the mid-game, militia/spear-centred Urban societies or the heavy infantry/cavalry Noble principalities
* Prepare to fight! Changed game mechanics ensure a much earlier start to the combat, with archery units available in the first age and castles and battering rams in the second
* Complement your armies with mercenaries like the Genoese Crossbowman, the Privateer, or Scots Guards
* Take up the fight as Austria, Bavaria, Bohemia, Brandenburg, Brittany, Burgundy, Denmark, England, Flanders, Florence, France, Friesland, Genoa, Guelders, Helvetia, Hungary, Liege, Milan, Naples, the Papal States, Poland, Savoy, Saxony, Scotland, Venice, or Wales, each completely different
* Advance your country on one of at least two paths by making essential policy decisions, affecting the future of your people
* New buildings, technologies, and units, from the ordinances of the Princely Court to the might of each faction's hero
* Research new, civ-specific, technologies, such as English Longbowmen or Helvetia's Eidgenossenschaft
* Discover the history of each of the 26 countries - plus special articles on the period's conflicts and warriors
* Historical 8-scenario campaign takes you through some of the major events of the period (the battle of Bouvines, the Barons' War, the conquest of West Friesland, the battle of Kortrijk, the start of the Hundred Years War, the siege of Maastricht, the battle of Chioggia, the battle of Vitkov Hill and the siege of Neuss)
Comes with auto-installer.

The computers can advance through the ages.
you just need to put it on a harder level
How I found This Out:
I was playing on hardest and one of my allies and advanced to the next century |

Indeed, the Hardest AI will advance without difficulty (as will lower AIs if you start with High resources). This is because the Hardest AI cheats to get resources anyway, so it has no problems gathering the required silver.
JuLiaN_RoX: the mod works fine online, but only against other people who have the mod. You can use the install/uninstall to get rid of the mod (temporarily or otherwise) when you want to play online against vanilla AoK:TC players. |

The long wait for the coming of the Age of Chivalry is over after years of waiting. The great news is that it was every bit worth the wait.
The mod focuses more on gameplay changes, though Graphical changes have not been forgotten and are numerous. But it is the more historic feel of gameplay that is this mods strong point.
Quality: The quality of the graphical work is flawless. The buildings with few exceptions are excellent, and the units added are superb. One great downside to a lot of mods is that the graphics just aren't up to AoK standards; this mod has a distinct AoK feel to its graphical changes while still being very unique and different looking at the same time.
The dat editing is quite advanced, with new technologies, policy decisions, and unique unit attributes all being present. The language files have been edited, so many unit descriptions and technology information has been given a distinctly more historic feel.
The gameplay changes are quite enormous. New buildings and technologies require the player to change his old strategies. And the fighting begins almost immediately, with archers available in the first century, and aging up cost are more prohibitive.
Usefulness: This mod has been designed to satisfy everyone's tastes. Its strong point is multiplayer, but scenario design is not forgotten, and there is a campaign for single player lovers. those who play a lot of random maps will especially enjoy this, as it is a great change of pace for standard AoK.
Novelty/Uniqueness: There is no other complete total conversion of all 18 civs in AoK. This is the most complete game modification ever. I feared that the fact it was started so long ago it might become outdated by the time of its release, but it certainly is just the opposite. It is the single best modification in AoK.
Closing Comments: this is a must download. Even if you don't keep it installed for more that 20 minutes, at least check it out and see what great modding has been done for this project.
Great work guys.[Edited on 04/08/08 @ 09:44 PM]

Can't really help you until you elaborate. Apparently you had no problems playing initially. When does the game crash now, when playing a random map or a scenario? When you load up the game itself? Did you alter anything/do anything odd in the mean time? |

Starting Comment :
Age of Chivalry Hegemony is a very good modpack, which will take you to the truly medieval tribes.
It also includes some historical Campaigns, and these are amazing!
Someone said here that these people are extually game designers themself... I say : The truth isn't far from it!
This took about 2-3 year to make it, it's worth to be downloaded, I say, it's a MUST download!
Rating: 5
The graphics are amazing, the campaigns are amazing! You made new units, new buildings... Truly amazing.
BUT :
I saw at the unit/technology/buildings tab under Castle that you can create some units which I could never create :) It could be me fold, It's possible that you'll have to research an upgrade which I never upgraded (since the rest disappears when you take one of the special upgrades). ->
->I heard this was meant to happen, so forgive me :)
Another thing :
The special units, especially the ecuyer, aren't good for giant fights.
So, this modpack isn't really made for giant wars or something, every time I tried, the units went very slow, they kept regrouping all the time, even when I ordered them to do nothing. And this already happens when I have 25 selected!
Though, It could be my pc, so...
Another point :
The graphical design is good, but the shadows of the houses...
I placed about 3 next to eachother, and the shadow of the lowest house just covered the house up to it... I checked it, and it happens with all the houses... Maybe you can fix it?
Another Graphical Point :
Colors :
I doesn't matter which color you take, I saw... Some places (like the houses curtains etc) are red if you take red, orange when you take orange, yellow when you take yellow,... BUT : I also saw some blue between it... The scouts have a shield on their back, this is also colored a bit Blue... That isn't that beautiful...->
-> I heard this wasn't possible to fix, and if they would do their best to really make everything good, it would take some more months before it was completed... So I'm happy with this version :D
anyway... The graphical design is very good for the rest, and this entire project turned out to be amazing
Additional Comments:
Please do something about the color- and shadow effects :)
Great job!

Unfortunately I can't really help you there. We've experienced nothing of the kind before and I'm not sure the problem is actually caused by Age of Chivalry, as it first ran fine. |

A couple of things: 1) Looks great, i should download it real soon (once i install the modpack studio). 2) Have you ever considered doing an age of chivalry mod that's asian themed (with civs like the golden horde, etc.) and 3) Call me an idiot, but how are modpacks uninstalled? |

Hi Ping,
To reply to your queries:
1. You do not actually need Mod Pack Studio to play Age of Chivalry; thanks for the compliment!
2. We have not considered that. We think it's best someone who had any real knowledge of medieval Asian history would make such a thing, as we really don't know enough about. Also, a mod on this scale is such massive work that we'll not undertake another one. We're just going to fine-tune Age of Chivalry and create more scenarios for it.
3. If you've installed Age of Chivalry, an uninstall file will be created (much like with other software) so you can easily get rid of it. You don't need to do anything else, just run that program. |
