Today I tried out the Gothic Infantry Flood in a RM 3v3 game on the zone.
My team trailed the entire way (we had one poor ally and one of our enemies was pretty darn good), and I hit Imperial in a mere 32:00. I immediately started pumping out hordes of Champions and Huskarls and sent them to attack the second best enemy (who had around the same point total as me). Sure enough, he had built an army of HScorps and paladins, so I told my ally (the bad one) to mass pikemen. He did, and they neutralized the enemy cavalry pretty well, but my infantry were getting trashed by these enemy scorpions, despite plenty of micro. I even went in with trebs to backup, because in my experience, trebs have been a pretty solid counter to massed scorps. That had limited success, and even after sending in my fourth wave of Champs/Huskarls, I had only fought my enemy back a little ways.
Finally, I trashed my infantry flood strategy and used my remaining gold to mass Cavaliers, and once I ran out of gold, Light Cavalry. I went in with around 55 Cavaliers and 20 LCs and was able to demolish his army of Scorps. Still, he had massed more paladins and pikes, my bad ally had resigned, and I had no pikemen trained (and I was at my population limit). My Cavs got manhandled by the enemy pallies.
I was still able to hold off that opponent, but my other ally eventually was swarmed by the stronger enemy, and we were forced to resign.
