I would like my AI to be immobile in the sense that it doesn't deal with eco and doesn't scout, which existing popular immobile AIs already do, however none of them make decent engagements.
If my force consisting of 3 archers, a mangonel and 5 Longswords encounter a group of 2 Knights and 3 skirmishers, the AI will probaly aggro to whichever of my units gets in their group LOS first, say - the knights will charge my longswords and the skirmishers will focus on them the whole battle, all just because they were up front when the fight started...Instead of having their knights snipe my mango and then turn to my swordsmen while their skirms focused on my archers.
I understand this might actually be impossible without my AI accounting for an absurd number of engagements in different possible manners, all manually. It's fine if it isn't feasible, for I would be happy if at least the *other* problem could be solved. Units seem to be mindless robots that don't care if their buddies are getting slaughtered from 10ft away from them.
In the scenario editor I placed 12 karambit warriors in a row (straight line) and gave a cataphract and a berserker for myself. Now keep in mind I wrote on the AI , just to show how it doesn't make a difference. My berserk engaged the first guy and as you'd imagine the rest of them bum-rushed me at once and even a guy almost at the other edge of the map came running to help 😆. When charging with the cataphract though, only the unit I had selected to attack and the other nearest one came to fight. I then proceeded to see the cataphract advancing along the karambit line, one-shotting everyone, all the while each individual karambit standing motionless until the cataphract was right on top of them. Not quite what I'd call artificial intelligence.
Any ideas?
