How much is a new game? $50 US? If it's on pre-order, wouldn't it be shipped the day the game is released? If so (I don't know, but its a hunch), then you could wait the same day to buy it in a store for less.

I think ill wait until wal-mart announces that they are reserving copies at the store. $54 for a PC game? that's outragous!!! preorder prices are always jacked up. I cant imagene that it will be over $39 at wal mart

it most likely will be, modern games are often $50 or $55

Most games are $50 now a days, back when you bought AoK it might have been $40 (which is probably the last game you bought), but it isn't now.

Probably not, after all, that site does display that date as the "ETA."
EDIT: Maybe it is real, but the point is I wouldn't bet all my money on it.

There's another good reason not to. I found this link, just below the preorder form.
Quoted from Gamestop:
E-mail me if the date changes
They announced a surprisingly early date, and they already preempt a situation where this date cannot be kept. Even if it turns out that the real release date will be much later, many people who want to preorder will already have done so over Gamestop, because they were the first ones to accept preorders.
That's why I would not bet a cent on that release date. I'd rather wait for an ES or MS announcement.

and gamespot has a real bad habit of announcing things off of guesses and rumors, they never fact check anything, thats why i say wait until its either official (MS or ES) or from a more reliable source (the snowball sites, IGN and Gamespy)

My friend is the manager at circuit city and the date they have for putting the game on shelves is in May, big difference. Also the gamestop here has the date they will receive it as July 16th, not the 15th as the site says.
I think gamestop throws dates out there and hopes they are right but I wouldn't trust it for a couple months.
As for those who are tryig to get hands on the game as soon as possible, as I do, I suggest you download it when it leaks onto the internet. This is usually anywhere up to a month before game is for sale. Play it for a while then go out and buy real game at store. Age of Empires series is my favorite series fo games ever and thye are the only ones I have actually bought. (I own them all)
Besides with a game that involves internet leveling up and an RPG element its always best to buy it and im sure game will deserve the money.
