This one's pretty self-explanatory; any questions, suggestions, comments and the like concerning The University, this forum or the rules go here. I'll get to them whenever I have a moment to spare, and I'll consider them closely.

Alternatively, you can e-mail me (Leif Ericson) at leif.ericson [at] heavengames [dot] com; but really, I much prefer you posting them here.

Just a question: Do you guys already have more articles collected over time that will be submitted? One other thing, The new display for the articles is much better then the old empty go-to bars.

Maybe get someone who knows about competitive multiplayer to screen the strategy articles because some are just useless and other just suck.

Hailstorm:

As you can see, there's nothing in queue right now - I don't think I can be any more honest with you guys. That doesn't mean that nobody's got anything in the works, though. Thanks for the compliment on the navigation!

UnnamedPlayer:

You offerin'?
But I hear you - I've already asked some guys to take a look at it. It never hurts to have more people critique the stuff that's supposed to be archived instead of put up on display, so if you know anyone who'd like to do that, please direct them here.

A lot of the strategy articles are downright nonsense, this one for instance. I second UnnamedPlayer's suggestion.

Hey, hey, go for the throat why don't you.

Like I said, I've already asked some people to look at it - but when it comes to playing the game, I'm completely worthless. Anyone who wants to can comment here and tell me what stuff needs to be archived - but gimme some room to breathe, y'hear?

Some articles are not completely useless, but only somewhat outdated and could do with some changes. Eg. Modpack 101 by Shadowflare.

Steal the Tsuniversity articles.

But do it secretly, preferably employing our forummers' secret ninja skills.

I'm quite impressed with this operation, Luke. I hope you can keep it up.

Maybe I'll contribute some time, if I can find a tutorial idea that hasn't been done to death.

Fixed image and download paths that got screwed during the transition from old to new. I hate it when that happens.
Do people come to AoKH for competitive multiplayer strategy articles?
I would assume so. We're hosting the best article on the Flush ever written; we've got excellent articles on DeathMatch; we'll also (eventually) be mirroring the old MFO articles, though I wouldn't be able to tell you if these are still accurate. All that should be more than enough incentive for people to visit the AoKH.

Great idea Luke, I think that you should delete some articles,
for example, we have "The Flush", and "The Flush revisited", I think you should delete the older and rename "The Flush revisited" to just "The Flush", also maybe it would be a good idea to add some rec games of the flush, such as Chichiri's learning game, and maybe some games from L_Clan_Chris. The same with "DM vs Persians" and "DM vs Persian revisited. Another great idea is to add the "Civilisation of the Ages" articles. Just my suggestions, keep it up.

Sorry for the delay, guys: my arm's all better again, and the newest articles are now live.

@Fedx:
I hear you; that's why most University pages read "live, but under construction". Since I'm not a multi-player guy myself, I can't check the validity of strategy articles, which means others will have to chip in there. Thanks for the pointers, BTW.

Looking over the articles is easy. It's actually redoing them that's the trouble. I'm sure we can get Slaghter of swp to take some time to just go through everything. Meanwhile, some stuff I've noticed while reading:

The Getting Through the Dark Ages article should definitely be archived, and the Road to Expert series should be updated. A lot of the advice is solid, but some of the stuff is really out of date.
Unique Weaknesses needs to be updated to include Conqueror civs, and should really be improved to look at things more from an online perspective. I think I will try to see what I can do on the article.
The DM vs. the Persians articles are ... not very useful. I didn't really get what the guy was trying to say, but his strategy would get you killed in a competitive DM game nowadays.
Also, it seems that all of the Civ Specific guides were written before the flush was invented. Out of the 4 articles only 1 even mentioned the Flush, and even that one just barely skimmed over the surface before moving on to Castle/Imperial strats.
And, the Strat guides for the campaigns... Let's just say that they could be made a lot better. I assume the Single Player guide is supposed to illuminate the most effective and simple strategy for winning the Scenario. Most of the strategy mentioned, however, don't really fit the criteria.

I'll post the rest tomorrow. Hope that helps.

Luke: I have no idea why you didn't reply to my email, but I trust you have your reasons.

Anyway, here are some suggestions:
Relative Market Efficiency, with data by Pale Horse. Useful article, and sometimes numbers do matter.~Statistics

Flammifer’s Japanese Monk Rush. I've only had one chance to try a Mush, but it was hilarious. Very nice and detailed article.~Strategy

Recommended Civs for a New Player by Doug Thompson. Possibly a little outdated, but I think the advice is quit solid. Maybe Steve can take a look for us.~Strategy

Some Thoughts on Raidingby Flammifer. Raiding is an integeral part of the game and has been known to decide games. ~Strategy

japanese monk rush is useless

1) japan (no reason to use that civ for this)
2) monk rush itself doesn't really work

You can do a monk rush without market trading for japan: Cheaper dropoff buildings makes you require less wood. This allows more tactics like a quick castle drop.
2) monk rush itself doesn't really work
If the enemy is FCing, it could.

I believe that the University should include not just the "useful" articles, but also unconventional strategy which are an important part of the game and are fun to try. Sure, you will see Drushes and Flushes in 98% of the games you play online, but it's nice to know about a diverse range of strats. I once did a Mush as a pocket player in a 4v4, it was hilarious. The enemy flanks were expecting knights, so they massed spearmen and some archers. Instead, they got about 20 monks

Secondly, university is a time consuming thing which demands a lot of time, which hardly anyone has from real life.

Just noting that my guide for Jap M@a rush has been updated (in case admins dint see yet ). You can check out my thread at university forums. Comments welcome on my updated article.

A side note: I am really curious as to why my strat and Myll_Slaghter's fast-castle strat arent yet in the "Random Map Strats list" and instead in the "specific strats list". Both of those are undoubtedly random map strats which work well on lots of situations. If you want evidence, you can download several recs of myself beating higher rated people from the blacksmith or G&SD forums.

Rather than opening paint and hitting paste, go to the directory you have AoK:TC installed (by default, it's C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Age of Empires II), and in there you'll see a screenshot folder. Your screenshot will be there in proper colours.

It basically is, but having people post articles as threads here allows people to comment on them, which could lead to better, more refined articles, and so on.
