MY MINI TUTORIAL FOR EDITING THE AOK LANGUAGE.DLL
About editing AoK units' names, there is no program to do that. However,
you can edit AoK's language.dll file using a hex editor. The AoK
language.dll file stores all the textual information you see in AoK, like
the names of units and civs. Just open the language.dll in the hex editor
and don't worry about all those litttle numbers to the left of the text
info. Then in the text info, look for the unit name you wish to change. For
example, you may find "B.e.r.s.e.r.k." Those little periods in between the
letters aren't a thing to be messed with. If you do, then the unit's name
will be screwed up. Just type in a name, like "V.i.k.i.n.g" where you had
"B.e.r.s.e.r.k." Notice that the name "Viking" has less letters than
"Berserk." The number of letters in the new name that you will have for the
unit has to be within the number of letters in "Berserk." "Berserk" has 7
letters, which is the maximum amount of letters within the word. "Viking,"
has only 6. That name fits well. But be careful. Do NOT try making the
unit's name longer than 7 letters, because it will mess up your game and
maybe even crash it! Be cool about the AoK language.dll. Also, make a backup
copy of your language dll, before you safely edit the original one!!
