I am running the original AOE2 CD version on Windows 7 because I want to play scenarios made for Mods that don't work on the AOK:HD Steam version, particularly the "Forgotten Empires" and "Still in the Dark Ages" mods.
I installed AOK and AOK:TC from the CDs and then installed Patch 1.0C from the Blacksmith. This creates a age2_x1.exe file to run TC. Then I installedForgotten Empires, which creates a separate age2_x2.exe file. The default scenarios that come with Forgotten Empires do show up in the scenario list. Next, I put the "Antiquity" Campaign made for Forgotten Empires, in my Campaign folder, as well as in the Games\Forgotten Empires\Campaign folder for good measure, but the Antiquity Campaign does not show up in my Campaign list, whether I run age2_x1.exe or age2_x2.exe.

Next, I did the same kind of thing for the"Still in the Dark Ages" Mod and the "Fury Road to Rome" Campaign (http://aok.heavengames.com/blacksmith/showfile.php?fileid=12721 ). I uninstalled and reinstalled AOK and AOK:TC and the 1.0C Patch. Then I installed Userpatch 1.4, and finally installed the Still in the Dark Ages Mod. Similarly, the default scenario that came with that Mod did show up in my list of scenarios. But the Fury Campaign did not show up in my list of Campaigns and nor did its scenario when I extracted its scenario and pasted it into the AOE2 scenario folder. The reason that I installed Userpatch 1.4 is that the "Fury" Campaign says that it works in version 1.4 and maybe not in 1.0C, and I noticed major glitches when I tried to run that Campaign in v 1.4.
For the"Rome at War" Mod, I also did a clean install and this time installed AOK, AOK:TC, the 1.0C Patch, and finally Userpatch 1.5. For good measure, I used the Userpatch's tool that allowed me to create a separate age2_x1.0C.exe file. Then I installed the R.A.W. Mod. When I ran the age2_x1.exe file, the RAW Mod worked and ran the RAW default scenario "My City" successfully. But the RAW Campaign that I downloaded, "The Gladiator", did not show up in the Campaign list.
However, I noticed something interesting. When I ran the age2_x1.0C.exe file, that program DID show all my downloaded campaigns in the Custom Campaigns list. Unfortunately, I can't use the age2_x1.0C.exe file to run the Forgotten Empires Mod or the "Fury Road" Campaign, because they are not made for the 1.0c version as I explained above.
