The Nexus

By The Downward Spiral

Another week passes us by and time for another designer’s work is featuredfrom the vast array of downloads from the Blacksmith. Lets get to it then..

The Nexus is a campaign based around a mysterious object, which is said tohave no concept of what is it, for it is not from this world. The author, TheDownward Spiral has written a very detailed description to his campaign, thefull version can be found here. Here is an extract:

“It was the year 1281, and chaotic turmoil had extended overthe all possessions of Japan. First, a bloodline of profligate unmoral Mongolshad been invading faultless villages and raiding military encampments.Although Japan was a hearty nation, the never-ending Mongol attacks began towhither down on the country’s defenses. Second, a dire cupidity for powercaused profound corruption within the midst of the church. A silence of darksecrecy was hidden completely from all who inhabited Japan except those ofsuperior rank. Lastly, a tattle of archaic immortality, The Nexus, dancedacross the lands of Japan and continued to be the topic ofconverse.”

Step into the shoes of Kitabatake and Minamoto as they seek to decipherthis strange object’s legend and help save Japan and the Nexite’s fromdestruction and war. This campaign is a mix of various styles of game-play.It contains a staggering 8 scenarios, 2 of which you watch, and 6 areplayable! The author deserves huge credit for taking so much time with it,and it seems a lot of hard work was invested whilst working on The Nexus.

As you can see this design, features a very prominent storyline, whichis one of the features it scores full marks from in both reviews of TheNexus in the Blacksmith.

As shown in the reviews, people found this campaign to be a very enjoyablerelease. Looking back through some of the old work’s, they continue to makeme smile and this one is no exception.

The final score of The Nexus campaign is a 4.9 out of a possible 5.0,interesting how both reviewers say how this design blew them away. Allthat is left for me to do is tell you of that The Downward Spiral tells youthis has a “A spine shivering plot”, which it does, so now’s not the time tocower behind the safety of your headphones… ; )
