Posted by Aro on May 23rd, 2003 @ 11:46 p.m.
Though this sticky thread created by CrystalCrown was made a long time ago, it looks like it’s still thriving with new members. Here’s it’s description:

The members of Multiplayer Custom Scenario Night (MCSN) strive to encourage more creative custom multiplayer scenarios. We do this by testing a nominated scenario every Saturday at 7:00 PM EST on MSN Zone.

It has 17+ members, and is still growing. Check it out or sign up here.

New Cheats?
Posted by Aro on May 23rd, 2003 @ 3:49 a.m.
Dragon_Sword starting a thread in the AoE III Discussion forum saying what some cheats could be in a possible new game. To quote some of his ideas…

Blow up= The world blows up and its a draw. What would happen is every thing and everyone would die and fire would cover the whole map.

The Bravest and Greatest= Get General Isaac Brock. His HP is 500, attack is 20. Has 20 peirce armor, and 20 armor.

tarzan= You get Tarzan, a spear-clutching unit who can travel through forest terrain, and can
fight with his spear both with range shots (like a Skirmisher) and close-combat fighting. (like a

back to the old days = all units return to the original form with no upgrades. (paladins become knights)

Hey that hurts= all units get reduced to 1 hp.

What kind of cheats can you think of? Post your ideas in this thread.

FOPT Tournament Begins…
Posted by Aro on May 20th, 2003 @ 10:45 p.m.
FOPT_Strawberry has sent me more news about their AoK and AoM Tournament.

The massive Anniversary Cup tournament for Age of Kings: The Conquerors and Age of Mythology hosted by FOPT has just started.

From the 1300 people from 59 countries who have signed up in just 10 days, 900 players – among them almost all current expert-players – have finally been approved making this the biggest online-tournament in the history of the AoE-series. Interestingly, the event for Age of Kings: The Conquerors has even more players than Age of Mythology. Despite all rumours the Age of Kings: The Conquerors – community is still strong and organised.

The top-players have been seeded so they can’t face each other in the first rounds. This of course gives many less skilled players the unique opportunity to play against some of the world’s elite before the “big guys” will most likely duke it out in the later rounds.

All Info about the tournaments can be found here:

Scenario Designer’s Wishlist
Posted by Aro on May 18th, 2003 @ 6:13 p.m.
kevingamer _AcX_ started a thread called “The Scenario Designer’s Wishlist” in the Age of Empires III Discussion forum asking what people would want in a new editor.

If you could choose new features in the Scenario Editor, what would it be? Some options I thought of:
1.Object has target bug fixed
2. Under ‘select player’ there are 3 new options: “all” and “all non-gaia” and “all except player X”
3. rename objects in area
4. beutify (like in AoM)
5. Garrison (effect)
6. Incerase range (ranged units only)
7. Increase hack/pierce armor
8. Copy/paste triggers
9. Activate condition, activate effect
10.edit terrain
11. Change unit speed
12. Change unit icon

What are some options for a new editor you would want? Check out the thread here.

Posted by Aro on May 11th, 2003 @ 7:11 p.m.
The Dragon Gaming Design Network, a design team for AoK and AoM, are planning on holding two scenario design contests for AoK.

We are proud to announce that we are currently planning two Scenario Design Contests for Age of Kings. One will be a contest, where you have to design the most “abnormal” map possible. The other one will deal with the most beautiful desert maps.

If you consider to participate or want to help us find cool prizes for the winners or additional rules or the like, then head on over to this thread and help us.

Thanks in Advance!

Mountable Horse Units
Posted by Aro on May 8th, 2003 @ 0:29 a.m.
l2aGeFul2i0uS has posted an interesting thread in the Age of Empires III Discussion forum about horses and units that can ride them.

You’ll have a building called the Barn. Here you’ll be able to create horses. And when you have certain different units leap on the horses, you’ll create different cavarly units. Like a champion on a horse will create a Paladin. A Lance type unit that will leap on the horse will create a Lancer. And so on and so on. Tho the Horse can also be a military unit.

Plot Development
Posted by Philip on May 5th, 2003 @ 0:55 a.m.
Surprisingly enough I have learned a few things over the past week. Notably how to use the news post system.

This is notable, however, not because I tend not to learn things, but due more to my policy of learning them from my T.V. from which I received a formal education.

Now to the point, a recent post in the SD forum has been designed to help striving or experienced designers with ideas and the basics of plot development for their scenarios. We hope it proves to be a valuable resource in your quest for designing perfection.

The thread can be found, here.

Generals and Admirals?
Posted by Aro on May 3rd, 2003 @ 6:20 p.m.
Darth_Vader1_4 has started an interesting topic in the Age of Empires III Discussion forum about possible leader units if there was a new game.

The reason is that leaders could help in battles by increacing our unit abillity to fight.
Leaders are good fighters that are powerfuler than any single unit but are expensive and you can only make 10 of them and so you can’t make a army of leaders.
The leaders are of two cinds.
On land that control land units and are made from the town center.
Admirals which are generals that control a ship named the flag ship and the control sea unit and are made from the dock.
