Some of the changes to the CoC:

  • Consolidated several rules dealing with spamming into one section
  • Clarified rule dealing with software copyright infringement and trainers
  • Updated rules dealing with harassment, profanities, and non-English languages to be context based
  • New section dealing with forum user privacy
  • New section dealing with signatures
  • New section dealing with bans, closed threads, deleted threads, and deleted messages

FOPT Tournament Ends
Posted by Aro on July 23rd, 2003 @ 8:16 p.m.
FOPT_Strawberry informed me that their Anniversary Cup Tournament has recently ended.

After two months and hundreds of games, FOPT’s massive Anniversary Cup Tournament for AoC and AoM has finally been completed with the grand finals.

In AoC L_Clan_Shmeker defeated Halen 2-1 while in AoM pG_Fire_de dominated 2-1 over L_Clan_Trippin. Both champions won US $200 each and the runner-ups grabbed a copy of “Rise of Nations”.

FOPT would like to thank all players and the many thousand visitors for making this once again a very good and enjoyable event. And we hereby promise there will be more tournaments to keep AoC and AoM alive and competitive.

All recorded games from the tournament can be found at http://www.fopt-clan.

Congratulations to all of the participants!

AoK’s Magic Numbers
Posted by Aro on July 22nd, 2003 @ 8:04 p.m.
scenario_t_c has made a very interesting thread explaining what all of the magic numbers in AoK can do when used in the editor, such as the remove HP trick and the invincible unit trick. It even includes some facts most designers don’t know about. Check out the thread here.

Your PTC Winners for 2003
Posted by Philip on July 10th, 2003 @ 11:11 p.m.
I have been led to understand that many of you have calendars. And, of those of you that do, nearly a third actually have them displaying the correct month. Fortunately it’s a good bet that many of you know that it is time to announce the PTC winners. It has been a long and tiresome judging process sorting through the plethora of entries most of which were very well designed, but, the results are finally back!

Tonto_Dave’s design of Guri_Kuta has won the grand prize choice of two items and the runner up Dark_Warrior with his city Teotihuacan has the choice of one prize. Congratulations also goes to the four honorable mentions Cknchaos, AnastasiaKafka, Aftermath, and KeLar each with an assortment of truly unique and inspiring designs.

I extend my warmest congratulations to the designers whose entries have been submitted in this competition. We trust this recognition will inspire future participation in the Pretty Town Competitions. We also acknowledge the enthusiastic support of all who entered their designs in the Pretty Town Contest 2003. The winning entry, runner up and honorable mentions will be included in an upload to the blacksmith and available for download shortly.

PTC Officially Over
Posted by Aro on July 6th, 2003 @ 7:54 a.m.
The design part of the contest is officially over (well… was over a few hours ago at 10:00pm), and I’m proud to say that the Pretty Town Contest was very successful, getting over 30 submissions this year which is more than any of the previous PTCs.

The judging is now starting and the results should be in as soon as possible.

PTC Deadline Today
Posted by Aro on July 5th, 2003 @ 6:55 a.m.
This is just a note that today is the last day to get your Pretty Town Contest entry submitted to Phil. At 10:00 pm, the contest is going to be officially closed to all who did not submit their entries before that time (this includes resubmissions). So make sure to get those entries in!

FOPT’s Tournament Reaches Quarter-Finals
Posted by Aro on July 2nd, 2003 @ 11:05 p.m.
FOPT_Strawberry has sent more news about their Anniversary Cup tournament, which has now reached the quarter-finals. Only 16 players remain of the original 1024 players.

Out of the originally 1024 (!) players only 16 (8 for AoC and 8 for AoM) are left in the competition for fame, glory and eventually US $600 in Prizes in the Anniversary Cup Tournament hosted by www.fopt-clan.de.

The Anniversary Cup is a 1v1 Online Tournament for both, AoC and AoM. All games are played on Random Map. Most of the top-players from MSN Gaming Zone and ESO joined but also many intermediate players. The Tournament is running since May already and will finish by end of this month.

In the Quarter-Finals, which are on the way this week, many current top-players have to face each other already so that should provide many highly interesting games to watch. Of course all games of the tournament are available for public download on FOPT’s website. Only thing you need is a registration in the forum so you can grab files (registration is free and very easy).

Find out more information about their tournament and follow the final rounds at the FOPT Clan website.
