New Blacksmith Administrators
Posted by Philip on August 28th, 2003 @ 6:32 a.m.
In the wake of Rasher’s leaving, 2 new Blacksmith admins have been crowned. Not only have these two people been a long time in considering becoming celebrities but they are reliable, intelligent, fun, handsome, honest and they just happen to be my self Philip Dunscombe and Angel Aro.

Now excuse me well I find some “pet cause” charity or other philanthropic organization to tirelessly champion by mentioning in talk show appearances up to three times and donating millions of dollars towards.

Poll: Fantasy or Historical?
Posted by Aro on August 26th, 2003 @ 0:35 a.m.
Aftermath is holding a poll in the Scenario Design forum asking which type of scenario you prefer to play and design.

I was wondering what kinda of scenario do you prefer to play/create. I, personally, love creating my own story and developing it. I like creating my own universe with its own history far more than researching a historical event and then designing my campaign based on and somewhat restricted to that particular historic event’s story and happenings.
As for playing…It doesn’t really matter to me whether campaigns are historical or fantasy if they are a worthwhile play.

Forum Party
Posted by Aro on August 23rd, 2003 @ 6:26 a.m.
Tonto_Simfish is holding a forum party in the General & Strategy Discussion forum set for this Sunday (August 24th).

The last forum party didn’t go as expected; but we can still arrange for an all-oldie game for this Sunday! Everyone is welcome though; whether you’re new or old to AOKH.

As for times; I think that we can be playing games the whole day; although two good meeting times would be 1:00 and 5:00 PM Pacific, which can be translated to 4:00 PM and 8 PM Pacific Eastern.

For comments or more information, you can find the thread here.

Of worms, MSBlaster, and DirectX
Posted by Aro on August 20th, 2003 @ 7:27 p.m.
If your computer is affected by the MSBlaster worm or its variants; or your computer hasn’t been patched against the worm, we urge you to patch your computer as soon as possible. You can find out how on this page at Microsoft.

Also, it’s highly advised you patch against another security hole that’s asking for trouble: There’s a problem with DirectX that allows a virus, trojan, or any malicious programs to infect your computer by simply playing an infected MIDI file. This affects all DirectX versions from 5.2 all the way up to 9.0. Thus, you can be infected by simply viewing an email or webpage that has an auto-playing MIDI file. You can find out more and how to patch this on this page at Microsoft. At least one other major media outlet has reported this.

If you haven’t installed all the critical updates in Windows Update, it’s probably a good idea to do so now.
